Why GCI the fog? it looked bad, they could of just used a smoke machine, the fog just didn't look right.

That's CGI. not GCI. I was wondering if you were using another form of web lingo like LOL or WTF.

If they used a smoke machine the fog will come out all uneven (thick in places, actually billowing in some) and it will look even less convincing. I thought it was actually well done.

Only nitpick I have is not enough monster encounters. Why the ehll did they not include Anna's scene with the lying Figure!

Sorry, I meant CGI

The soundtrack was another problem I had. The lack of original music and the fact that a SH soundtrack song would play for all of five seconds at a time before moving onto the next annoyed me.

The biggest problem I have though was that the film didn't feel like Silent Hill. At all. It was like a horror film guest starring SH monsters, the mood and atmosphere just wasn't there. Plus I think it was overly stylish.

I thought it was good that they used the music/noises from the games. A nice little nod to us game-players.

Only problem I had was the terrible lines some of the characters had. Eg. "Officer Bennett to base." NOOOOO.

I think the fog was part CGI part smoke machine. Radha Mitchell was complaining about the fog machines in one of her interviews

the only little problem with the movie is the ending. I wish they had ended the movie silmilar to the ending from the first game or with Rose seeing a guy as she's driving out of SH, and the guy tells her that his name is James and that he's looking for his wife Mary.

I have a rather stupid nit pik: Pyramid Head's knife did'nt look the same as the game. I've gotten over it for the most part and it probably worked out better for the movie in some way...
I just Love the Great Knife so i wanted to see it in the movie.Stone me for stupidity. :P

Ehhhhh, I have very few problems with the movie, despite the dialogue.. But that's a given. I liked the movie overall.

The plotline structure is pretty.. Hmm. It didn't seem to all fall in place sometimes, but other than that, I liked it.

As for the fog.. There was one area that it looked major fake, where she's beginning to walk and The Day of Night is playing. The camera is facing her and then goes behind her.

I was in the theaters and was like "um.. That didn't look right.." The background appeared.. I dunno.

It could be my eyes though, lol.

The fog was fantastic, so was the soundtrack, and the feel was just like the games, including the maps, and movement of the monsters and reactions to light, along with their spastic shaking...

take away the fog (which was both CGI and machine), change the music into different music to sound silent hill-ish, and to take away the monsters movements and reactions....

IT would kill the movie

I can't think of things i didn't like.

Except Dahlia needed to speak up a bit. Sometimes she was too quiet.

I think the miners should have gotten more into breaking down the door to the bathroom that Rose was hiding in. Whenever I watch that scene, I'm struck by how mechanical their efforts look. I mean, if I were hunting fugitives in some weird town, I'd give it my all and not just repeatedly kick the door in a brain-dead, motorized sort of fashion. Crowbars, anyone?

My number 1 nitpick........ DAHLIA. She definatly needed to speak more clearly to have her words heard better. What good are her lines of imagery if you had to pay so close attention that trying to understand what she said in the beginning made you forget to listen to the rest of her sentence.

I think Anna was a joke, and the laughing audience that was produced from her acting I could have done without.

The car scene showing Dark Alessa should have been a little more prominent.

I liked the music thrown in, but there might have been a little too much in the beginning.

Something i realized while watching the skin rip: Why did'nt Cybil try to shoot Pyramid Head when he had Anna by the neck ? Its clear she had at least 1 bullet in the gun when she fired it to get the cult members to back off, so i would think she woul've at least tried, though it probably would'nt have helped any way. It's just that i noticed when she shot P.H earlier the bullet bounced off his helmet, and he turned away from the blast and moaned, so maybe that would've been enough to get him to drop Anna long enough for her to run....though with her I.Q she probably would've stood there screaming untill he grabbed her again. I don't feel to sorry for her i just would think someone with a loaded gun would've done more than stand there and say," Oh God, please, don't !!.. or something along the lines of that... Anyway thats my long winded nit pick for the day. :?:

I saw it last night and a lot of people behind me would laugh when Anna threw stones at Dahlia. It got annoying after a while, but then again, so did Anna.

My main nitpick is the last half hour of the movie! I liked the first half quite a lot, but I felt it got a bit over-the-top at the end. I think they just tried to do too much. And the gore... my god. It just seemed trashy as hell to me, and I think the movie could've gone without it.

Also... and I don't know if this should be a spoiler or not, but I'll be on the safe side...
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
I didn't like what they did to Alessa, with the whole revenge thing. And being a forty year old. I had a lot of sympathy for the Alessa of the game because she was a victim, but this Alessa I did not like, there was no sympathy for me there. I felt it took a lot away from the ending.
Maybe I'll have to see it again to make my mind up properly, but so far this is how I feel about it.

EDIT: And Pyramid Head was absolutely fucking awesome! I nearly shat myself in the scene in the school. But I don't think he was used enough, and there didn't seem to really be a reason for him to be there, nor was it explained what exactly he was.

She didn't want to waste bullets because she said to Rose that what was in the gun was the last clip she had. She already knew that trying to shoot PH would be an exercise in futility

i like the idea of rose seeing a guy on her way out.
then she asks him what hes doing and he says 'my names james i'm looking for my wife (shows rose a picture of mary) have you seen her??' that would have been great

No it wouldn't. It wouldn't serve a purpose in the story and would just be Gans going "Hey look! a reference! I'm being true to the games! see! look what I did there!" and patting himself on the back.

The dialogue and plot(?) just killed this movie for me. I'd say the acting did it, too; but then actors can only do so much with the material and direction they are given.

One major nit-pick:
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
What kind of moron leaves her scared child alone in the car, at a gas station in the middle of the night, on a lonely stretch of road? This detail was particularly stupid when you consider the fact that the little girl in question was prone to sleepwalking and running away. It's almost impossible to suspend disbelief and get into the story when plot holes like this are thrown in your way.
The first twenty minutes or so were actually embarassing. For months I had told my wife how much I was looking forward to seeing this movie; so then we finally rent it (since it was only in the theaters a week), and she's just sitting there with the same bored expression I had.

I wanted to like this movie -- I really did -- but at best I would give it three stars out of ten. The only positive things about it were some of the effects (the janitor's appearance, for example) and the set location.

Hmmm Rose left Sharon in the car because she only wanted to pop into the diner to pay for the gas money and figured that it won't take more then a few seconds and she probably thought that it was pointless to drag Sharon out of the car and lock the car door.

o_o Or maybe Rose was just damn lazy to lock the car doors -_-'''

For me, the only nit pick I have with the movie is that Rose should've gotten a weapon. I mean....

If you were stuck in a strange ghost town with weird shit happening around you, after your encounter with those grey children, won't your common sense kick in to tell you that there is a need to defend yourself with something?

Rose should've gotten a steel pipe at least -_-''

I read something in Fangoria I believe stating that they wanted Rose to be almost hopless, like a normal person (unlike Harry who got the gun and knew exactly how to use it right then and there). She did have a knife, but that fell, she had a lighter, throw that and the flashlight broke. I'm kinda glad she didn't have a weapon or she would be like macho 'Laura Craft' hero, not the 'I love my daughter and will do anything to save her even though I'm not exactly hero material' we see and sympathize with in the movie

I don't understand how Cybil was beating up the cult members in the mining suits then just let them beat the crap outta her?

Hmm getting her to have a steel pipe and using it like Harry does ain't going to exactly make Rose into a macho Lara Croft kind of woman, unless the director gets her to fight like Lara Croft ^^;;

As for the message about Cybil, o_o I don't really get what you're trying to say.

Why is Cybil beating the cult peeps in the mining suits rather then let them beat her up?

Or are you trying to say why Cybil didn't bother fighting the miners back when they advanced in on her during the hospital part? ^^;
