Silent Hill 2 - G4's #1 Scariest Game of All Time

Did anyone else catch today's episode of X-Play?

After the most hilarious parody I've ever seen on the show involving the Saw series, Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb placed Silent Hill 2 at the top of the most terrifying games list, beating out games like Fatal Frame II, System Shock 2, Resident Evil 4, and Clock Tower.

I'm glad television finally gave Silent Hill 2 the award it deserves.

Yeah, theyve been re-running it once a day for like a week before Halloween. It was pretty funny. Especialy the DDR trap. I really want to play Siren & Fatal Frame.

I couldn't belive that Kristin Holt killed that one girl. She like shot her in the face. Ha, and Kevin is blind... LOL. Yeah... I miss the old X-Play.

It depends on your perception.
Silent Hill 2 is eerie, but Silent Hill 1 makes you very tense.

SH1 is scary no matter how many times I go through it; SH2 makes me uncomfortable, but doesn't scare me in the same way.

Great episode of X-Play, though.

SH2 isn't that scary for me, but I love it for the story. SH1 to me is crude and, as Hjartu put it, tense. I can't really describe how I find SH1 scarier than SH2, but I just do

I believe that Silent Hill 3 is the strongest in terms of all out fright factor. In fact, in the making of documentary, the creators specifically state that Silent Hill 2 was meant to instill a sense of unease; disturbance. They created Silent Hill 3 to be in your face terror..which I find it to be, much more so than any other Silent Hill game. I found Silent Hill 2 to be extremely unpleasent and Silent Hill 1 to be offsetting..Silent Hill 4 had next to no fright factor for me.

I agree with G4's choice on SH2. The emotion it creates helped fuel the horror, and I think it's the most real fear I've experenced while gaming. Though everone is right, everyone has thier own opinion. I never found SH3 or SH4 remotely scary.
