Two things that I cannot cope with:
- The alley scene. The introduction to it was great. It was AMAZING!! I had to sit back all tense and eyes opened wide. *NORMALLY I DON'T DO THIS WITH MOVIES*
But one thig that could have made it even more scary, if ALL the fences were filled with cloth and/or plastic, like in the game. It would have created the same claustrophobic feeling for the whole scene.
Also, when she (Rose) began to run away and finding the monsters melting was pretty much a turndown.
- The case of Dahlia and Alessa. Dahlia was just a forsaken woman. Where as Christabella was the pschopathic woman (still not enough, as Dahlia in the game) who wanted to kill Alessa. Alessa survived the fire by natural causes. In the game Dahlia and a few doctors including Kaufmann, sealed Alessa into the body, which made her hate.
But then again, this was the less bothering con I found in the movie.

The 2 parts of the movie that REALLY put a smile on my dial:
1. In the alleyway scene, when Rose runs into the bin! Made me jump and laugh at the same time.
2. When PH tears away.. god what's her name again?'s skin and then to add insult to injury, throws it at Rose and Cybil! That just summed up his brutality right there! Would've liked to have seen more Knife action though, maybe in the sequel?

I liked the alleyway angle as well. I heard alot of people get scared when she hit intoPsych Ward wrote:

the bin. But what I really felt topped that scene off was the first gray child's scream. That haunts me to this day!

exaclty, the only thing in this movie that really got me 'scared'. In SH4 there are waay more disturbing screams like that, you need sound explorer for'em thoughMoosefrenzy wrote:But what I really felt topped that scene off was the first gray child's scream. I would have liked to have seen more knife action as well, but what I did see of PH, I was impressed.
I liked all the visuals as well, i.e. the fog and ash (yes, I know there isn't ash in the games, but I still like it regardless) .
This films gore was pretty tame compared to other films, IMO.

I liked the film over all. I think the filmmakers took a lot of care to try and get the look of Silent Hill right. The sound was great. I grew up in tornado alley and that siren in the film sounded like the one in our county. highly unnerving. There were a few scenes in the film that made me turn away. I haven't looked away during a horror film since the first "Hellraiser". It's the best video game to film translation, and besides just being scared I was disturbed by it. Just like when I play the game.
I just transferred to the Happy Burger location in Silent Hill and it's closed!
In my opinion, They managed to stay very true to the game. monsters looked great. the environments were great. But the last part,
Was a big no-no. Hellraiser-ish slaughterfests dont belong in SH imo. It was a bit of an anti climax for me.

Well...there needed to be a big, bloody and horrible scene of Alessa gaining revenge, or else you wouldn't get the same point of how bloodthirsty and vile someone can become after making a pact with the Demon. You're supposed to be thinking, "why is Alessa doing this?" and "why did Rose agree to help Alessa and the Demon achieve this?"
Rose is punished for her crime by not being allowed to return home...I think you needed the visceral nature of that scene to understand what Rose has let herself in for by working with the Demon.
Plus...it's ultracool.
