Building World-Is It So Bad?

Post by TleilaxuEyes »

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but my searches have come up with nothing.

Anyway, why do so many people hate the Building World? Personally, it's my favorite level, besides maybe the Hospital World. The second time through is a little annoying, but not as much as the Forest World 2nd Time. Is it the confusing map that everyone hates, or the Gum Heads, or Richard's Ghost, or the scenery, or what?

For me it was Richard's ghost. He was following my ass around poping out of nowhere. It was my own fault 'cause I didnt get the last sword for him. Next playthrough should be better.
Close second was the map! it did kind of confuse me. usually Im really good with direction and that just messed with me.
also I didnt find the building world too scary although the upside-down room was pretty kick ass & different.

The building world did creep me out with those damn monkeys randomly landing around me from above, but it was a pretty cool one as well. So I would say it is not so bad.

I didn't mind building world, but the first time I saw Richards ghost, I pumped his ass full of Silver lead and put a rusty sword in his gut. For those 30 seconds that I fought him, HE WAS A BITCH! I'm so glad I knocked him out early on. :D

Building World was fine, particularly because there was no Walter to make getting around without getting one's ass kicked impossible.

While not as inherently interesting as the Forest or Water Prison levels, I had no problem with the Building World from an aesthetic standpoint. Some of the areas such as the shop with the clock and the birthday-cake room were quite interesting.

From a gameplay standpoint it can be a nightmare on the second play-through, however this depends on your actions in the game up to that point. On my first play-through I, stupidly, assumed that each ghost was confined to its own world, so before I left each one I took the Sword out of them. This meant that by the time I got to the Building World, in that room where ALL of the previous ghosts manifest I was completely stuffed. I had to start the game over again. As I said though, only a problem if you make some mistakes earlier in the game.

Building world, building world....I haven't played the game in awhile, but if I remember correctly, building world is a pretty big area. THe second time around, there's a "room" w/a ghost chasing you and you have to find the right door. All the other doors are false doors. That was a bit of a pain. I kept picking the wrong door and freaking out like a wussy. I was too busy paying attention to the stupid ghost and trying to run from him, I forgot what doors I had already tried.

Overall I was not too fond of the Building World. It just seemed to.......I don't know
what. Whatever it was however I did not like it. The alley was kind of cool but that about sums it up. Richard was a pain in the ass too.

I thought it was kind annoying. I got really annoyed with Richard, and the stupid ghost following me around, was uncool. Plus the upside down room. woo that gave me a headace.

All the things you guys hate about Building World are what make it challenging/creepy. So in a way, isn't the fact that you hate these things about it proof of its success as a survival horror game level?

No, the building world isn't "so bad"... I actually prefer it to some of the other worlds.

i like the building world cuz its really bother it have many monsters and other is that its really big, just have to run many times to not be hurt by the ghost or the dogs, or the gum head etc, etc.

the envoirment isnt enough good but the stairs with that strege thing in the wall with rooted-bloody stains its cool, and the diferent stores.

it a cool world, but it used to give a wrong impression the first time u play it.

I just thought it was kind of long and tedious.

Personally, I didn't mind it so much. It's not my favorite (mainly cause I detest gumheads), but I found it fairly fun, actually. The only world that bothered me, really, was the Forest World--and that's cause there's so little going on compared to the others.

I didn't dislike the buiding world much.

The only thing I didn't like about it was Richards ghost.

And the only reason I didn't like Richards ghost was because I hated all of the ghosts. I hated the fact that you got close to all of the characters but then they got killed off. That wasn't so bad, being an avid Silent Hill fan I'm used to the friendly characters dying. It was being forced to see them again twisted into Walter's servants.

It'd be really fun if it wasn't for the gumheads...those damn monkey sounds annoy me.
