Hmm...well if you meant Silent Hill was your favorite game I think we've talked about this somewhere before. I think the general concensus was that even though it'd be cool to see a remake, don't you think it would be better for Team Silent to focus their energy on continuing the story rather than rehashing the older parts?

Nah, we need to move onto different games. If you're looking for an updated Silent Hill game, try Silent Hill 4.

Hehe.

Personally I like how they scooped up their resources and made use of the jagged edges of the models etc for atmosphere etc. in the first one. I like the first one aesthetically. I think I'd just like a new game.

never dreaming that one day that beautiful thing in flight would land on this earth and into my arms

I'd be estatic if Konami ever decided to remake the original Silent Hill.

Actually, I'm okay with how Silent Hill is right now.
It doesn't need to be remade.
It'd be cool and I wouldn't object, but eh.. I don't know how I feel about that.

While it would be super sweet if they went back in and cleaned it up a bit, the way it plays and the story and EVERYTHING else is perfect. We don't need any extra story line, extra weapons, or anything... hell, we don't need ANYTHING else, but some cleaner non-movie graphics, and more importantly, next-gen save-ability would be killer.

On a coding stand point, that wouldn't take a whole lot... just change a few file names to the new, cleaner, versions... and that's it.

Who knows, maybe Konami will port it over to the PSP, which cant be a bad thing since that platform has only a handful of good games.
I think the only real reason to remake SH 1 would be due to the fact that it is hard for so many newcomers to the series to track down a decent copy.
But anyways, I agree that it would be much better to have a new game than play through the same thing with prettier graphics.
Cant wait for SH 5.....

all they could do is update the graphics and to be honest i don't mind the graphics on it anyway. If they touched anything else i'd be unhappy

People saw the Resident Evil remake, and the re-release of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and all of a sudden started demanding old shit we don't need.

What could possibly be added to SH1, besides some nice graphics, better voice acting and a new combat system? Nothing of worth.

"Yeah, but they should expand the story and add new levels!"

What would be the point? Everyone knows the Lisa Trevor side-story was empty, pointless filler. Did it hold any leverage over the rest of the Resident Evil canon? No!

In short, I don't understand why people want old games they've already completed being made again when they could have brand-new titles they haven't completed with every ending (and already know what happens next).

They could release it with the european and japanese extras... there were a few news clippings and such we americans couldn't see. Or the mumblers that they hid from us...

I agree too, just enhanced graphics would be nice, so you could have a darker and nastier nightmare world.

Yep but then again remake the game just for the graphics.... At least Resident Evil: Rebirth added some explanation to the plot. With the lost memories and sh3, sh1 doesn't need anything. I tend also to believe that "old graphics" make the game more ugly and gives a new angle to its horror atmosphere.

Well if Konami wants a remake, they can always do it but it isn't something enthralling or vital to the story of the the game or the town.

Am I the only person who really _loved_ the crappy graphics in SH1? It made it feel even more like a really bad old horror movie, except scary as hell. Plus the Otherworld of that game had a feel that no other game afterwards was able to match.

I think they should be remaking 2, 3, and 4 to equal the quality of SH1, personally.

Why REmake it, it's fine the way it is.
So many ppl say, "they should REmake SH1, RE2 and 3" and it's only cause they want better graphics, we all know graphics don't make the game, plus, the graphics are not bad, well good enough not to REmake them anyways.

That's my opinion.

Okay, so how about a re-release? I personally have had to re-purchase my SH1 3 times (got stolen), and it's a pain in the ass to hunt down an old copy.

Plus, once I had found my most recent copy, I then discovered that the guy that ganked my game also ganked my save card. 5 Game Stop/Game Crazies later, I finally have one.
