Larval Stalker, of sorts

In Brookhaven Hosptal, on the bottom level of the stairwell, there is a grate.
Behind this grate is a black smokey...thing, which cries like a baby.

First few times I played through, it was always there, because I didnt go down there until it was necessary. This time, purely by accident, I wandered down early, and its not there to start with, although the babies cries were. So its not just a big stain, or a glitch.

So, whaddya think?

I've never seen any black, smoky things there. Ever. What version of the game do you have?, and was it moving?

oh! I think I remember people talking about seeing a hole or something and hearing the cry before the forum was hacked. .. But I don't remember seeing it for myself and um, don't know what to think about this..

I know for a fact that it's empty, there's nothing moving there, and thus, no stalker there.

I think he meant that there's a still shadowy figure there. And the noise would have nothing to do with it, it's just there to break the silence of the stairwell at an oh so appropriate time.

It's an unnatural looking shadow in the right corner, and it doesn't move. I've noticed this before as well, and thought it was interesting, and I have the NTSC non greatest hits version.

It sounds more like a pig or a rat squealing than a baby's cry. Some kind of animal, anyhow. I didn't notice any shadow though, so el screenshot would be nice. :)

Well, I saw it yesterday, so, whaddya gonna do?

To everyone who's asking questions:

No it dosnt move.
Its like a shadow, but it's really unnatural. It's not cast by anything, and its just kind of hovering there, static. Like a black smudge in mid air....kinda thing....

I remember hearing something like that last time I played! And I was like...wtf...and seriously creeped out, because I don't remember seeing anything. But next time I'll have to check it out....

it sounds like a mandrake out of harry potter. and i saw a shadow but im not sure if thats where the sound was coming from

I saw the shadow and I wasn't quite sure what to make of it. Haha I thought it sounded like a dying pig... or Maria. XD Ahem. But I don't know what to tell ya'.

I think the sound is just there for scare factor. It's not the first and last time that those have been introduced in the series.

Maybe the shadow thing is just a little glitch.

Hmm? Not an avid poster here, so forgive me if I took your line. That's what I had in mind when I first played the game and got to that spot. It also reminded me of the little chicken fetus that came out of the fortune cookie in the movie It.
