Chainsaws In The Mist...

Post by NightFlutter »

Can anyone else hear the chainsaw in the distance when you're in the cemetary talking to Angela? I never noticed it before until today...very faint.

It's not a chainsaw; just a background noise.

Really? Cuz it sounds exactly like the chainsaw when you find it in the logs..except very faint. I thought it was a precursor to let you know you unlocked it, before you actually get there.

Well then you should start a new game and (one where you haven't unlocked the chainsaw) and see if the noise is still present but i have never heard it, gotta check that out

Yeah it is a chainsaw. I heard it the firsttime I played the game. I thought I would have to fight some monster with a chainsaw...

If it's there the first time you played it, before the chainsaw is unlocked, then it isn't the chainsaw.

Seriously. It's just a noise. Not a chainsaw.

Mabe the chainsaw is moved. I suppose your correct. However how many backround noises sound like a damn chainsaw? Beleive me, start a new file and listen it's their, or at least the noise is.

I have. I know the sounds of this game by heart; I have them all recorded & on file: it's not a chainsaw.

I don't recall hearing any chainsaw noise at the cemetary area, even on my second, third plays. Might be a sound similar to a chainsaw?

Maybe, maybe not. Silent Hill does have some odd backround noises.

No, it is the chainsaw. You are correct.

Because when I was recording the Silent Hill 2 Complete Soundtrack I purposely started a brand new game, not continuing from any saves because once you unlock the chainsaw, you hear it mildly in the background, almost muted, but loud enough to ruin any audio.

Try it and listen really close.

Except that it's present on a brand new game, before the chainsaw is even available. Therefore: not a chainsaw, just a sound.

> HERE'S My PROOF

Right click above and "Save As..."
An Mp3 file with proof of the chainsaw's sound in the background.

I turned up the volume 30dB (150%) so you could hear it.
Oh, and I turned off BMG music in the game.

That's nice. It sounds like a chainsaw, but it isn't the chainsaw because it just isn't there to be heard.

Might I say sir, your website kicks ass. Downloading from it now as we speak.

Thank yee very much. :]

Also, I recorded that same spot (yanked out the memory cards, and started a completely new game), RIGHT after the cutscene with Angela and what do you hear?

> Nothing at all.

I did the same thing with turning off BMG Music and turning up the volume 30dB (150%).

Keep in mind this is complete and utter proof - it is a glitch, most likely.

Also, I do record via optical (light) sound. The best quality there is - so it's not a hum from analog or anything.

That doesn't prove anything. The chainsaw still isn't there to make a sound.

That's very strange. Yeah, after hearing the second sound file, I'm leaning on that it's a glitch.
