The group Sevendust uses the same sample from SH3's Sickness Unto Foolish Death. And here I thought it was Yamaoka who made it!

I'll post the samples i found here. I can't give you a download link because i don't know how to extract refills (Propellerhead Reason samples) so you'll have to get them yourselves .

Bear in mind that some of the samples here may not be from his sample libraries but they sound similar to his work. All the samples below where used to create the soundtrack of my fan film called "Silent Hill: Revelations of the Past". If i find more, i'll edit this post and add them.
______________________________________________________________________

1. "21-PAD-Freedom&SilentSoul" from "The-Ambient-X01" sample library.

This sounds alot like something Akira could've used, but i'm not sure if he did use this one. It's great for remixes or creating your own SH-style songs. I used it to create this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbMNu2w7rTI

2. "newhope" from "Zero-G: Ambient Textures"

I used this sample to make a remix of the song "Forest Trail" from Silent Hill (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkW4f2GtC14). I turned down the frequency to make it sound more shallow.

3. "Impacts" from "Reason Factory Sound Bank --> NN-XT Sampler Patches --> Sound FX" which is included in Reason 4.

These impacts are very suitable for making those creepy otherworldly music.

4. "Low Scream" from "Ambient Space 1 Demo"

Great sound FX which also suits the otherworld. Play them with the bass keys.

5. "Burning" from "EQ-Slo'motion - Tokyo"

I love this sample library because it has these distinct sounds. This sample is very atmospheric and will sound better if the frequency is turned down. I used it to make this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3DEITGl-6E.

Enjoy!

I just heard the sample Yamaoka used in the beginning of "Room of Angels" in the new episode of "Lie to me" at 18:30 and 18:45 when Lightman meets the hooded guy in the stadium alley! ^___^

I thought that it might interest some to know that the first sound heard in Into the Depths of Self Discovery plays quite frequently throughout certain scenes in The Boondock Saints.

Also, the first sound heard in Battle Drums (before the piano kicks in) plays frequently throughout the very first area of Devil May Cry.

Thanks for the new finds VIVI! I've noticed that Akira tends to use alot of spectrasonics' samples.
Having gathered some those samples as well, i'll have a look around and see if i can find some.

I just realized that if you download the "music and ambience" pack from Fungo's website (<Link Removed>),
you're basically getting samples in mp3 form.

Afterwards, you can convert them to .vst, refills etc.

^ Yeah, on Fungo's site he has all of the in-game sound effects ripped directly from the game discs. But, those are apparently property of Konami (I say "apparently" because I highly doubt that Yamaoka actually recorded them himself), and as such they can't be shared here. I don't think linking to Fungo's site is even allowed. Rules and all. ;)

Just found some new samples:

These are from the sample library "Distorted Reality Volumes 1 and 2" by Spectrasonics.

1. "Requiem" from the "Gothic Choir" in "Spectrasonics Distorted Reality vol. 1" (Like i said, he does use their samples alot).
He used it to create the song "Nightmarish Walsh" from Silent Hill 4.

2. "Turntables" which is also from "Spectrasonics Distorted Reality vol. 1".
I believe he may have used this Turntable FX in "Tears of..." and several other songs, but i'm not really sure.

3. "OLDCHEEZ2 80" from Distorted Reality vol. 2 Disc 1" was used in "Fortunate Sleep - Noone disturb her dead"

4. "DARK BROOD" - Distorted reality vol 2. This one isn't a sample that he used, but it sounds incredibly much alike this three-note bass (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrW-papiHb4)

5. "DROWNING - Distorted reality vol 2. Again, this sounds like something he could've used but i'm not sure (Same video as before: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrW-papiHb4)

6. "DIFFRACTION" - VISTAS - Distorted Reality vol.2. - Heard in the beginning of "The reverse will"

along with

7. "SOLAR FLARE - VISTAS - Distorted Reality vol.2. - Also heard in the beginning alongside DIFFRACTION

8. "EXCAVATOR - MUTANT FX - Distorted Reality vol. 2 - I'm not sure about this one, but something tells me that i've heard it before in either Silent Hill 2 or 3...

That's about it. I've looked through both libraries now.

PS. I must apologize in advance for being off-topic, but in the "Distorted Reality vol. 1" pack, there are plently of samples that was used to create the Zerg themes in Starcraft 1 and there are also several samples that were used in Final Fantasy X-2 and Advent Children and one for Metal Gear Solid 3 and 4.

Sorry, Revelations of the Past, but the site you linked to contains copyrighted material and thus is not allowed published on this forum.

I've added a pretty massive update on page one. I've added a lot of new SYNTHS that were used by Akira. Also, I've added some other various sounds that he used as well. Enjoy!

I've just made a few additional discoveries after browsing through Spectrasonic's Bizarre Guitar:

- 'Feedies1' is used in 'Fortunate Sleep - Cat Scratchism Mix'

- 'North Pole' is used at the very beginning of 'Different Persons'

- 'Dervishes' is used at the very beginning of 'Monster Daddy'.

Thanks to VIVI, i found alot of samples as well, but i think i'll let him have the honor of presenting them :-D

By the way, the sample "sedation" - It was also used to create the song "Forest Trail" and another one the mini-scenario Born from a Wish: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXs57ZsyWnw

Another thing, let's try and search the net for AKAI-format sample libraries that were released before the end of 2001 and then post a list of the possibilities:

- AMG
- Big Fish Audio
- East West Samples

I'm really trying to gather of the samples that he used. It's like Pokémon; you gotta catch 'em all!

EDIT: I found some more! I'll post them tomorrow!

New finds:

1. "070 gtrspill 2" from the sample library from "Zero-G: Return of the Planet Breakz" (I got mine from the "Zero-G TotalRex" compilation)
The starting beat from the song "Breeze - In Monocrome Night"
