You should definitely check out Magic Bullet Looks, it's compatible with Sony Vegas Pro as well.
Just use the presets and voilá, you get a nice looking picture plus you save a lot of time by not having to color-grade it all yourself (you can still adjust the settings in MBL though).

Updated the front page with some new stuff. I'm currently reuploading the soundtrack on Youtube with some animated graphics and a new logo, but the encoding is freakingly slow, so it'll be a few days before everything's up. Also, there are two trailers i've been working on. One of them is almost complete and should be out within a couple of days; the other which is the first proper trailer with footage will be released sometime in September.

Some may have noticed there's now a new release date: 24. september 2011 (to coincide with the 10-year anniversary of Silent Hill 2). The reason why it's more than a year away is because i'm gonna start on
a film school soon where i have to live for the next 10 months. I will still be able to work on the film in the meanwhile, but it's a long way from where i currently live and where i'm currently filming and my time will be much more limited than before.

EDIT: 8 songs have been uploaded so far, 3 of them are previously unreleased. All of them have a unique still/animation.

If you know how to make 3D animation, then perhaps you could help after all, since it can be done over the internet (depends on internet connection of course).

I just wanted to say that here in Argentina there are a few people (including me) that are anxious to see your movie when it is ready. We believe that it will be a good movie!

Hi, i have tried magic bullet and its simply awesome,
thank you for recomending it!

My pc has 10 000 MHz processor and 4 GB dd3 rams and it totally slows it down
+ the rendering of any video with effects added in video software takes like five times more then the lenght of the clip/movie ...

How do u deal with it? I mean a whole movie must take a whole lot of time to export, especially with effects like magic bullet ...
Am i doing something wrong?

No, that's just the way it is. Unless it gets GPU accelleration, it's gonna remain that slow. My pc with a Q9300 intel quad core, 8gb ddr2 ram, 64-bit windows 7 and ATI 4870 spend an average of 2 hours to export a 2 minutte clip (i add a hell alot of effects). At this rate, my film would have to render for 30 hours. My current solution is to render it in parts and import them in Premiere a second time.

With the way i'm doing it, i won't lose quality. I export them as 1080p 25fps H.264 (MPEG4) 48mbps (to match the bitrate of the Canon 7D files which is so high that a quality loss should not be noticable + the codec is so much better than MPEG2 which is crappy for HD plus it takes more space). Sometimes, i also export them as a .TIFF sequence which is uncompressed (200 stills would equal to about 8 seconds of PAL video)

I simply recombine all the parts in Premiere where the encoding process will be much faster now that the effects have been added to the video already, so this is the best workaround for me.

Now with that huge rendering time (it all depends on how many effects and layers you add), it would certainly be a problem for professionals who have time constraints on their project.
With this project, the rendering time is not that much of a problem, but it is annoying...

First of all, when you say a regular miniDV cam, is it Standard-Definition or High-Definition, because it's harder for me to determine what you should use when i don't know the exact format (maybe post a link of your cam?).

Otherwise, it sounds like you're using the wrong settings when you transfer your video via Firewire. Now i've never used Sony Vegas but check if quality is at a 100% AVI or something similar (though not uncompressed which'll take too much time and space). Also make sure that the settings in the camera are set to the highest quality possible.

I think the best advice i can give you, is to go on a video forum and ask there. I'm not really the best person to talk to concerning this stuff since i don't really use HDV anymore (my Canon 7D uses a CF-card which is much different than HDV-tapes).

For youtube, use H.264 (which is a codec in MPEG4) with 8mbit which should be fine for SD. For DVD, use DV-MPEG2 with max. 8mbit since it's only compatible solution. But then again, i don't know how Sony Vegas works so it's best to ask another Sony Vegas user on a forum... Also, WMA is an audio file, so i presume you mean WMV. It's okay, but MPEG4 is better quality wise and i actually experienced that it rendered faster than WMV which is what i used to convert my videos to when i upload them on youtube.

PS. If you wanted upgrade to a better camera at some point, then get the Canon 550D. First of all, it is a stills camera so isn't built primarily for the video mode, but otherwise it can video incredible video at HD 1080p with a shallow depth of field (where the background is very blurred while the object in focus is sharp: ) because the APS-C sensor is much bigger than a conventional video camera. It also has selectable frame rates (Including 50p/60p at 720p which can be used to create true slowmotion). It can also shoot great video in low light due to the size of it's sensor (APS-C 1.6x).
Unlike with pretty much most video cameras, the lenses can be changed and best of all, the price which is incredibly low (about $800) considering the possibilites of the video mode. It's video quality can match the the RED ONE (although not in terms of resolution and it's RAW mode) which costs $17,500 for the body alone. So, should you ever consider upgrading at some point, this is definitely work taking a look at, also if you just wanted a brilliant stills camera too. The price may be a bit step for people casual consumers, but then again, most regular video cameras can pretty much reach that price and are nowhere near as good as this camera. Go check some sample videos on youtube or http://www.philipbloom.co.uk so you can judge for yourself...

Hope that helped!
