The only one using ad hominem is that guy given the constant flip flopping in his posts, but believe what you want. Anyway before somebody else has a seizure (when they could have just made an on topic post themselves...) in a way I guess I can understand Eileen being nominated for such a list. I mean yeah she's a pain to drag around, but at least you don't have to worry about her dying and ending the game so at least she has that going for her.

On topic: Eileen's certainly one of the better escort missions in video games over all. The main reason she's so unpopular, I think, is because it takes up half of a whole game instead of a single level or so, and there's no new or interesting content in that half of the game you have her for. It's just tedious with next-to-no reward.

Yeah, I also think that's why she's unpopular. One can't help but think of the tediousness of the second half of the game when one thinks about escorting Eileen. If the second half wasn't so dull and boring then Eileen probably wouldn't get so much hate. At least she's able to look after herself, unlike Ashley who just screeches for Leon when something grabs her (it's hilarious watching her get carried away. I can't help but think "good riddance" ).

I think Eileen trumps almost every escort imaginable. She can defend herself like Sheva, but isn't constantly wasting ammo and stealing your kills. Although I think I may like Mayu from Fatal Frame 2 better than Eileen. She may be a bit annoying, but she's absent half the time.

Eileen was decades better than Ashley....her voice was incredibly annoying and i felt like she was a wee bit too young for her to be trying to hit on leon...i sensed that capcom was trying to sneak in a bit of that pervish schoolgirl uniform vibe with ashley a bit. Eileen was by far a better character,... her personality was more down to earth and she seemed more mature, not to mention she also looked better than Ashley.

That said, some sections with Eileen can be incredibly annoying i remember being towards the last level of the subway world when you had to travel thru that last car, to get to the end of the level,....Eileen kept fighting the ghosts and taking on damage, while i was trying to get out of there and avoid fighting the ghosts and being shot by walter. Still i like the fact that she can defend herself...i'd take her over Ashley anyday.

Capcom also stole most of Ashley's costume from Heather, the bastards. Green skirt, sleeveless orange turtleneck, and ug boots.

To be fair, Heather's one of the greatest female character designs in gaming that doesn't focus on accentuating boobage and general sex appeal.

I liked Eileen because she got two great theme songs: Fortunate Sleep--Noone Disturb Her Dead and Wounded Warsong.
Elle got Theme of Elle. Awesome.
Maria got Terror in the Depths of the Fog, Magdalene, Fermata in Mistic Air, and Betrayal. All kick-ass!
