That's a damn shame if it really happened. I really liked Downpour, and I was hoping for a patch to fix the lag.

This is really too bad. Vatra made just about the best SH game in a while, and I would have loved to see them come back. I'll miss you, ya crazy Czech bastards! :)

To Hell with DLC.

Anyway, that really sucks. The game was good. Not awesome, but not bad. The only ridiculous thing about it was the lagg and some of the monsters design but apart from that nothing, imo.

I hope that's a misunderstanding. But the almighty IGN is never wrong. Never

It's not just IGN. It's all over the net, and IGN in fact was one of the last to pick up on the story.

IGN is one of two completely negative reviews listed here. The majority are mixed.

What? What does that have to do with anything?

The tweet from one of the czech developers pretty much confirmed it.

So, I assume this means no patch?
I really liked Downpour, but I was very much looking forward to the gameplay experience being smoothed-out. The game stutters on me often...

I think the most striking thing about all this is when all is said and done, the last two major installments of the main series will not have been released in Japan. Neither Homecoming or Downpour received Japanese releases.

^Who cares? There are plenty of good japanese games that don't get a NTSC/PAL release.

Uh...because when one of the most successful horror game franchises in history stops being released in it's mother country on a consistent basis, it is a very, very, very bad sign for everyone involved?

That title should go to Resident Evil. We're fans but let's get real... Silent Hill never received much praise.

And about the lack of release in Japan... Konami JPN doesn't seem to give a damn anymore and "gave" the series to their western team. That's why the series are thrown left and right to random studios.

Seriously, who's the director of Konami right now? That guy/gal needs to find another job. They're ruining pretty much every series... Castlevania is already dead.

I was unaware of Downpour and Homecoming not being released in Japan.
I'm ignorant of the in's & out's of the business, but I find that shocking. Perhaps it's unwarranted for me to view it that way.

The fuck? Castlevania is far from dead. And I really hope the excuse I see for this isn't going to be either 'It's not like the past half dozen Metroidvanias we've already gotten!" or "it's ripz off teh God of Warz!"

I am sad to hear this. I liked Downpour, and thought Vatra did a lot of things well such as creepiness, the side-quests, and the story. If they got the chance to do a second game it would have been interesting to see what they would have done.

Do you guys think they are closing because of Downpour? Not enough sales?

Not enough sales combined with the rising costs of making video games and the fact that the Czech Republic isn't exactly a major video game development hotspot.

I think its a real shame. I know not everyone was enamoured with Downpour, but for the few faults it had, I saw a real genuine attempt to breathe life back into the series. I personally had very few dislikes about the game, and I would have liked to have seen how they could grown in another title. Oh well :c

I just hope the series isn't just handed off to some other random developer now.

That sucks, if it's true. I think they did a great job on Downpour.
