Alessa and the Jewelry shop?

As far as I can tell, Nowhere is a compilation of Alessa's trauma. This is why the bulk of it is the hospital, and it's supplemented by Alessa's classroom, the antique shop that houses a church, a church altair, her house...and the Jewelry shop from the town center?

Can anyone tell me what the significance of it being in Nowhere is? Or is it just a mindless call back to a previous part of the game?

I mean, I wouldn't call it "mindless." Not everything needs to have overt symbolism. From a level design standpoint, callbacks are always nice, and it makes sense for it to be there.

It was near her mom's antique shop, maybe she liked passing by it and window shopping. Nothing too deep, just a thought...

It was mainly for showing the players a location that they missed, few people actually entered the jewelry shop in their first time playing the game...

That's an excellent point, I'd forgotten how easy it was to miss that jewelry shop your first time through the mall. It's so easy to miss a door when most of the doors are just decoration, and you take a couple steps in the wrong direction to check out something that seems interesting and you're immedietely locked out of that part of the game. Now that I think about it, the first time I played Silent Hill I didn't even know you could access that jewelry shop there.

I've always thought the jewelry store had some significance. My thought was that the owner was a member of the Order and possibly was commissioned to create relics and religious jewelry for the cult.

Possibly also made the Seal of Metatron?

Are you referring to the five relics in Nowhere, or what you could buy in the actual Jewelry shop? I doubt the later could be true.

Adversary's referring to Droo's idea that the ancient relics might've been commissioned and made in the jewelry shop.

Fair enough. If it can be connected to the Order, it's probaly relevant to Alessa's life

I just don't think any locations are throwaway in this game. It showing up again in Nowhere indicates that there's more significance to it than just being one of the locations Harry can enter.

If you strain too hard to see "significance" in every little detail, you'll only end up seeing things that aren't there. It's easy to imagine possibilities, but there's no evidence that the developers were necessarily thinking along the same lines. The most probable reason why the jewelry shop is reused is simply because the concept of nowhere allows them to reuse old assets and save money. It's an obvious and practical reason, which is why it's probably true. Not everything has a "hidden meaning," even in Silent Hill.

I like Mr. Mason's suggestion; perhaps Alessa just liked window shopping and day dreaming, and that got carried over to no-where? There's not much else to go on, really...

Yeah, because seven year olds aren't self aware enough to be their own people, or to have desires, etc. Perhaps I was just a precocious little brat, but when I was seven there were things I wanted. Usually toys and lollies, but occasionally shiny things like jewellery. Also, Alessa seems pretty sure of what she wants and doesn't want when we see her seven year old self with Dahlia in the flashback in no-where.
