Iglesia de San Pedro, Avila, Spain — Chapel on the Lake
Lately, after thinking more about how many real-life locations were taken and used in the SILENT HILL series, I asked myself, because the Rebirth ending is my favorite, "What about the church?"
So I started searching . . . and searching. Until I found it.
This is the Church of San Pedro, in Avila, Spain.
The Chapel on the Lake
It's identical to the chapel on the island in SILENT HILL 2, aside from the cross being removed and it being stretched.
Suddenly my day feels slightly more complete. I know where I'm going on vacation next.

That's very interesting. Maybe it would be possible to create some kind of world tourist guide to the Silent Hill series.
Gotta wonder though why they removed the cross. Not consistent with the cult in Silent Hill?

And exactly how long did it take for you to find this church?

I really only spent an accumulative hour or two over a handful of days. And, honestly, it should have taken me maybe three minutes had I just searched first for what I did when I ultimately found it.

I'll never get over how adorably half-assed that inaccessible island is. <3

I don't think it's just the island that's half-assed. I think we're learning it wasn't Akira Yamaoka alone who cut corners, so to speak, in making the entire series. I'm willing to bet the exterior for nearly every notable landmark, including statues and signs, are real-life locations—and I intend on finding the others.

Probably almost all of the less-notable ones, too. I know for a fact that the sawhorses around town are cribbed from Grass Valley, CA Public Works and the dumpsters still have visible Waste Management logos on them.
Definitely a cool find with the chapel btw.

The view from the Observation Deck is actually an edited picture of a lake in England too

Great find, Adversary. I'm certain I'd scene that structure in an art history book back in 2002, but I never made the connection myself. Cuttin' crosses.

Excellent...!
I'm thinking this sort of thing should have its own dedicated section. Then, a fan could go out on a journey to see these locales. Maybe even a grand tour, for the wealthier among us.
It'd be the sort of thing that could enrich anyone serious enough to go.

The walls look also similar save for the fencing.

Funny.
But seriously though, nice find.
