"The nightmare-inducing series based on the hit video game series Silent Hill by Konami Digital Entertainment (“Konami”) returns to IDW this summer with a brand new chapter, Silent Hill Downpour: Anne’s Story. Featuring the dark origins of Downpour’s enigmatic antagonist, this new comic book series will delve deeper into the history of prison guard Anne Marie Cunningham… as well as further explore the fog-shrouded haunted town that is caught between realities.

Introduced in Silent Hill Downpour, officer Anne Cunningham set out on a bloody quest for revenge. The mystery surrounding her journey to Silent Hill, and the terrors she faced upon her arrival will finally be revealed, giving readers an entirely new perspective on the acclaimed video game.

Debuting this August, Silent Hill Downpour: Anne’s Story opens up a whole new experience for fans and players, and stands tall as an horrifying tale all it’s own!"

It was dropped, but then I guess they picked it back up again when they had more time. No complaints here, though!

Oh wow, awesome. I'm still stoked at the prospect of having a Silent Hill comic with an art style that's actually coherent.

I thought Sinner's Reward and Past Life were pretty coherent, but that may just be me comparing them to the earlier comics.

Oh yeah, I'm basically thinking of anything pre-Tom Waltz, back when the comics were being done by people who didn't know how to draw or write comics, let alone Silent Hill.

May have to pick this up. I really loved how Downpour, while certainly about Murphy dealing with his guilt, was just as much about Anne and her quest for revenge. Might be pretty good.

I've legit tried to explain the plot to Paint it Black and people have thought that I was joking. That is not a good sign.

That looks very promising! I'm just a bit annoyed about the fact that the otherworlds will probably be just like the ones Murphy sees. If I'm not mistaken, most of Downpour's otherworlds are from Anne's mind, not Murphy's.

Well, this interview with Tom Waltz seems to imply that Anne's otherworld will be unique to her story. To what extent, we just don't know yet.

Personally I thought most of the otherworld and monster concepts were relevant to Murphy, though. The only times Anne's seemed to bleed over were the hospital bits, which made more sense for Anne than Murphy.

Even though the release date has been set back by a couple weeks than originally planned, you can read the first few pages over here.

Judging by the sample pages, this is looking pretty promising. I'm blown away by the attention to detail on the second page, where it's kind of "summarizing" all that has and will happen.

If I wasn't excited for this before, I sure as hell am now.

This looks far more interesting and appealing to me than the game was.
