I don't like the bland human-monster type design. It reminds me of Fatal Frame, and while I like Fatal Frame, it's not Silent Hill.

I've only watched one play through of the demo, but it seems SUPER difficult and like there's a lot of just outright guesswork going on here, which isn't good. I don't want to be stuck in the game multiple times just because I'm not pressing a button at the right time or turning around 10 times after I hear 5 rings or something like that. That would just frustrate me, and I'd be making my way through with a walkthrough guide. No bueno.

The jump scares were cheap, devoid of mystical or emotional values I expect of a franchise such as Silent Hill.
Never watch The Walking Dead. While I do feel Norman Reedus' character and face suit survival horror genre well, having to associate a real life person with Silent Hill is a turn off for me. But since this is Kojima Production, Reedus could play a fourth wall breaker role that shaped the franchise into a new direction – which could be interesting.

I am very happy with this trailer and the look of things to come. If I' m really digging for something that could have been different potentially...nothing...I wouldn't want them to change a thing. The P.T. Was suspenseful, psychologically unsettling, had good buildup and left me wanting more. I feel like Silent Hill fans new and old are in good hands with the creative visionaries behind this project. My only complaint is that I want more gameplay now after getting a taste of the direction of the new game.

My only issue is that in the actual Silent Hills teaser at the end the town looked too well-lit. Of course, we don't know the context of that scene so it's not much to get worked up over.

As for the monster designs... let's not forget that Silent Hill 4 had literal ghost enemies that were extremely generic, and Downpour was basically Humanoid Enemies: The Game. Compared to that, Lisa's design is pretty well done. She's very creepy, her behaviors (including head twitching and the way she'll occasionally just stop and stare at you) are very Silent Hill. I won't be happy if every enemy in the game ends up looking like her, but as a single example I think she's great.

And in terms of jump scares, I think I encountered maybe three the entire time. Considering all four of the original games had their share of jump scares, I don't see the problem.
How can I be lost if I've got nowhere to go?

A well done horror game can be fine with a few jump scares.... since it doesn´t rely on them as a gimmick. I´m ok with a few.

Ok so I played this demo when I wasnt feeling the best so maybe I didnt get the best read on it. That being said. What the crap! I was relieved to read some of the earlier posts tearing this thing down because I have been a silent hill fan since the first game and ive seen a lot of positive feedback for this demo around the net. I was starting to think I had gone mad. The mechanics, the aptmoshere, but mostly running around in circles trying to solve weird puzzles that dont follow any rules all suck big time. So repetitive, so weak. Felt clunky. Got bored. Disorientated. BBoring ugly environment. My biggest concern though is the positive feedback. I might not have been feeling the best when I played it but seriously. I know they say that this is not a true reflection of what the game will be like or what ever but why give us such a heap of crap. Just for some publicity stunt. IF (settle down) the game ends up being like this,..... some people may say they like it now........... this will be a complete flop, worst silent hill ever. Undoubtedly

That is impossible so long as Book of Memories exists.

I don't know if I would go that far... but I do think it would be labeled an Outlast ripoff by a lot of people, and that in itself would be a huge shame. Hopefully the actual game will play more like a traditional Silent Hill, because in this point of history that is going to seem insanely fresh when compared to what everyone else is doing.

Especially if they can recapture the magic of what first made the series so enthralling. I believe also that given enough creative freedom Del Toro could come up with some sumptuous monster designs, we know Kojima is inventive too and he is not lazy when it comes to development.
