I don't understand this..

Post by Pastucci »

So Frank Sunderland says that Walter was born 30 years ago..
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
Then a few years after his birth, he is seen wondering around the apartments (Walter would have been 3-4?or maybe 5?)
He was again seen at the apartments 10 years ago, when he brought the items to do the Ritual of the Holy Assumption.
But on April 4th, Joseph writes that
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
he has been investigating the "10 hearts murders" which occurred 7 years ago..
So, I am bad with math..but does this mean that
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
since W.S. was born 30 years, and was seen 10 years ago when he did the R.H.A. he would have then had to of killed his last victim, as well as himself, before he was 20 years old, which could put him at the age of 17 or 18?
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
Frank Sunderland saw him that 10 years ago, only it was after Walter was already dead, which nullifies Sullivan being 20 years old, since dead people don't age, obviously.
I think I am correct here, but to clarify, I am only concerned with the actual age that he died, not how old he would of been after he was resurrected.

Any thoughts?

I am also trying to figure out when Walter wrote in his diary (how old he would of been) as well as when Joseph began investigating the situation.

Walter killed himself at the age of 24. My timeline addresses a lot of this.

I read your time line, as well as all the threads/links here before I posted this topic.

You don't cite where you got that information, and his age isn't stated in the game or on the translated memories website at all, so how did you come up with your theory?

I stand corrected, translated memories says he is a "middle age man", which would put him at 30 years old at the very minimum, so we are both mistaken.

No, I'm not.

Walter's age is listed in the official SILENT HILL 4: THE ROOM strategy guide. He was 24 at the time of his death, when he began the Ten Hearts killing spree. Then he returned 10 years later, which is where Joseph's confusion begins: He thinks Walter should be 34, "middle-aged," but he didn't age because, oh snap, he's been dead for a decade.

So then I shouldn't trust "translated memories" as a good source for this game?
You told me before that it was accurate, which is why I have been looking back to it...

So I need to get this official SH4: The Room Strategy Guide?

Translated Memories is certainly useful. It does misrepresent the original book at times, though. For example, some of the information for the other Victim Profiles are entirely made up by the translators, meaning not a word was written for them by the game's creators.

When any one thing is created by multitudes of people, inconsistencies are bound to arise. My job with my timeline (among other things) was to mitigate and minimize those inconsistencies—and I did a pretty damn good job of it. Most of this information is from, what? a decade ago? I don't remember the specifics of everything anymore, but Walter's age at the time of his death is a confirmed 24.

Anyway. Frank doesn't specifically say Walter is 30. He writes in his journal, "It must have been around 30 years ago" (emphasis added). That's just an approximation, and, knowing what we know, it was actually 34 years ago.

Thanks, I really appreciate this :)

I will definitely get that official book, and not rely on the translated memories so much, or at all.

Appreciate the clear up Adversary.

I don't mean to say it's entirely unreliable. Fact is, most of its content is fine and accurate. Some of it, though, is misleading. Always better to ask questions than blindly follow, or something.

Okay, I guess I will have to figure out what parts are good and what ones aren't.
