I managed to play it (sort of) in a group setting in college. Normally, I like to play Silent Hill games for the first time alone in the dark, but I made my friend who is normally petrified by horror (a little alcohol was imbibed after a point) play it for the first time.

I can't say I was particularly scared, but she threw my controller a few times out of fear and got us a noise complaint from screaming in terror. I think the scariness of this game can sort of depend on how susceptible you are to horror.

I only beat it once (I got two endings because I reloaded the last save but I don't think that it counts as a second run, right?) and it was God knows how long ago but I don't remember it being scary at all.

Sure, it had some tense moments, but not scary, creepy shit. Most of the tense moments were due to the gameplay. For example, the prison at the end.

There was a room full of those demon inmates and, at the time, I didn't had any good weapon to fight against them, and was dying, so I had to get the fuck out ASAP. Fun times...

I've got a guide for it, so I'm sort of in the mood to give it another shot. I've never completed the game before. Homecoming was very hard. It was so hard, in fact, that I needed to obtain a special gun to complete it. But I no longer have a Xbox 360 console because my white one broke down years ago.

I've been so busy focusing on other matters that I seldom play games these days. June and July is going to be very busy for me, but I think I'll have to get another Xbox 360 relatively soon as I'm hoping to get into live streaming, as it's something I've always wanted to try, but didn't really know much about before.

The only place I found creepy really was Monastery level. It wasn't scary but it was definitely eerie to me.

Most of the other parts were a "this is kinda cool" kind of creepy. It didn't get under my skin so much as it was kinda 'neat' hah.

The scariest thing is that Roger Williams song, and it's a rip off of The Fugitive as well.

Nope, not really. The Wheelman was a little spooky at times, but I felt the whole game was kinda repetitive, same textures of tiles, books, etc. There wasn't enough diversity to keep me interested.

Got sick of the running from the Red Orb (Devil's Testicle) that I didn't even beat it. I got to the prison part, never got further.

Downpour is like an extended version of the haunted mansion level in Silent Hill 3. In other words, a fun house that isn't scary.

I still love this game. Some technical issues, but exploring the town was fun and the story was great.

I enjoyed it too, not as scary yes, but it was good. The graphics and story to me were the icing to the cake. My only issues I saw were how long it took to load said graphics after each cutscene. It would always look strange for awhile

The story was really good if you weren't given spoilers and took your time exploring instead of jumping in to beat the game. I was happy Konami had given us more things to explore and how weather effected monsters.

I still will though have a rough mind on glitches, load times for graphics in important cutscenes and to be fair it's not scary. Spooky feeling and all, but not jump in your face scary.
