Are you ready for Silent Hill 2? (Game Spoiler)
I take it Chris is going to go out and look for his wife!
But why is it that she never came out of the realm she was in? I cant wait until the next movie!

Or lost, could be a better term. Without the viewer's hope of Chris reuniting with his wife, a sequel would be pre-ordained, and thus, boring.
I have no doubts Rose will never truly return to the world but simply labeling her as dead might not work. I do feel she exists in that place, and Chris will come in contact with her again somehow, even if it is a paralell of the ending events of the game Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams.
Strangely, I feel Silent Hill 2 in it's movie form is going to BE Silent Hill, as in a male protagonist going into town and then coming out with his lost daughter. The addition of searching for Rose only makes the potential situation more interesting...
What's interesting is the one preview for the movie about Rose and Sharon DaSilva disappearing in Silent Hill IS really a giant spoiler to the movie's real ending as far as Chris in concerned, eh?

Heh, movies like Fight Club got bad press, other films are duds in the boxoffice (Jacob's Ladder) but hits on video, and some of em turn that bad press into a medal - what's odd is how people seem especially VICIOUS towards Silent Hill.
Really, how much bad press did RE get when it first came out? Say hello to a trilogy. One that most Resident Evil fans (including me) wish never existed and can't even grasp how the hell it can keep going.
Either way, if/when they did a sequel, it could only get better since we have the groundwork laid out now.

How're we supposed to know that?
We just got basics and that's it. We got Chris Dasilva, Officer Gucci, Dahlia, Rose (Missing/Dead) Sharon/Alessa (Missing/Dead) and whoever else happens to get involved.

Yeah, trying to figure out what a sequel will be like without even knowing if one will be made is a little odd. I just say this and leave it at that.

If you ask me, it's going to be this messed up conglomerate. It's gonna start like Silent Hill 2, then end exactly like the first with Chris leaving town with a baby girl in his arms. Or who knows, maybe even Rose.
... again, just wishful thinking.
[EDIT]
Besides, Sean Bean's contract states he MUST DIE. There MUST be a sequel so he can perish!

Oh see I thought they were going to make it into Silent hill 2 just like the game when he searched for his wife. How do you know she's dead? I dont think she's dead I think she's trapped because in that case it was no point of Alessa's good side to continue living.
BUT remember she told her to close her eyes and Sharon opened them and then Alessa's bad side entered her body. Thats what I think. And Chris can since Rose, at the end the door was open and he closed it COME on this is a dead give away that the 2nd one is coming because there is no way they are going to leave it alone remember the cop with the disfigured hands they were keeping alot of seacrets and why would he just up and forget about his wife? He's going to investgate and remember when she called the house telling him she was on her way home? What about that?

I don't think she's dead at all. I think the reason they stayed in the other world was because of the quote, "Mother is God in the eyes of a child" (or something to that effect). If Alessa is inside Rose now, she would of course want to protect and keep her daughter away from anything that might corrupt her, like the love of her father, the real world, etc. I think the only reasons they gave it that ending was to underline that point, and to leave it open for the inexorable sequel. There will be one, of course.
I actually think the plot of SH2 or SH4 would make a far better sequel, if, like so many movies now, there's to be a trilogy. That way, we'd at least get a movie that's more about the universal badness of Silent Hill, making it more of a threat, and not just a demon-child-seeks-revenge-on-those-who-hurt-her sort of thing.
