Is there anyway that you can extingish the fire from the stairs in the Lakeview Hotel when you meet Angela for the last time so you can follow her??
She goes all the way up to the end of the stairway until she disappears, I kind of wanted to know
where she was leading to...

No there is no way to extinguish the fire, unless it is RE: Code Veronica.
As far as I know there are no leads as to where Angela goes. Are the flames
real? Probably not as Angela states ,"For me, it's always like this," hence she
would be a crispy critter if they were real. But honestly, what is real
in Silent Hill?

But hey, if those flames are not real then how come they are not letting James pass through?

I think that Angela is real as well as Eddie. Just people with problems
being called to the town. As for whether or not Angela dies? As far
as I know there has been no confirmation on that. She just walks
away into the flames with an undisclosed outcome. Does leave you
wondering if she ever committed suicide as she did asked James for
the knife back with obvious intentions.

That scene is one of my favorites in the game. It's nice to be kept wondering what's up there and if it's a real area or just part of a dream-like stage.

You can very well believe that Angela's dead--in fact it's the most likely conclusion for her story, besides wandering for all eternity or something. She knew what she wanted to do all along despite the initial hesitation and giving James her knife, and you can see her ascending the staircase as her meant to wander in some kind of Purgatory-like state. Because let's face it: a stairway to heaven isn't wreathed in flames, Hell is not Up, and Angela is too torn and distraught for any other destination.

Yeah... Perhaps, Angela cannot die until she has forgiven herself or understood that it wasn't her fault, she didn't deserve it; which is why she is looking for mer mother?
I mean, her mother told her that she deserved it, so perhaps Angela is looking for her Mother to see if the mother will take back those harsh words?

Or, as James sees the fire too, it is for real and she will go up and die in flames.
OR James just sees it too because he understands her situation and is on her side, he most likely feels sorry for her, right? Perhaps he even feels guilty with her.

Just theories :P

Angela is doomed to walk upwards into her inverted heaven for as long as she can stay alive against the burning flames.

However, if you wanna get real' literal about it, Angela walks up the stairs until she reaches a landing. She then makes a weird fauxjump into the air and twists her arms and torso around in unnatural directions before coming to a stop on both feet and standing there until you decide to leave or switch the game off.

You can only view this if you have a camera hack for the PC version. Here's some proof:

I want some more of those videos...

I think the staircase of fire is just an extremely dramatic way of saying Angela is dead.

I still say Angela is alive, we all assume she burned in the fire, but noone actually see's her die. I'm guessing she's still alive.

What would make you think that? All evidence indicates otherwise.

I'll just state that I agree with GioGio: Angela doesn't necessarily die, and there isn't much to indicate that she does. She has two options:

Commit suicide. She'll come to realize those stairs lead nowhere, and she'll continue to carry-on until she gives up entirely. She's not ready to accept what happened or forgive herself.

Turn around. If she can just acknowledge that what happened to her--what Thomas did--wasn't her fault, she can move on; she can turn around and Leave, much like James can. This is an unlikely possibility given Angela's disposition, but still a choice.

None of us know what happens to Angela, as likely as it is she commits suicide.

And that video doesn't work after four seconds.
