Can someone give me a legit answer/article about that ship that mysteriously vanished on Taluca Lake? I remember seeing some partial info on it in SH 2, but I wasn't able to fully understand the story.

Thanx.

Following the timeline of Silent Hill it is registered that in 1918 a boat called Little Baroness, carrying tourists disappeard in the middle of the lake and no survivors were found. The cause of the accident is not known.

In 1939 strange happenings take place in Toluca Lake. Skeletal hands are seen trying to reach up.

Yeah, Toluca Lake is a ghostly lake.

This is the actual game script:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Memo Title: Legend of the Lake
Toluca Lake, the town's main
tourist attraction.
This clear, beautiful lake has
another side as well.

It may seem like just a typical
ghost story that you might find
in any number of old towns
across the country.
But in this case, the legend
is true.

On a fog-bound November day in
1918, the Little Baroness, a ship
filled with tourists, failed to return
to port.

A newspaper article from back
then simply says "It most likely
sunk for some reason". Despite
an extensive police search, not
a single fragment of the ship nor
any of the 14 bodies of
passengers or crew has ever
been recovered to this day.

In 1939, an even stranger incident
occurred.

(There are many pages torn out.)

Many corpses rest at the bottom
of this lake. Their bony hands
reach up towards the boats that
pass overhead. Perhaps they
reach for their comrades.

Just a story of how the swamp was nicknamed the Blood Swamp. The executioners from the civil war period washed their bloody tools in that swamp, hence the name.

It doesn't work in any version. The one that Birlew had was a Beta release, which had such a feature, but it's not available to anyone else in any version.

Remains of Blood Swamp

The x meters of land surrounding this monument was originally swamp, but was later filled. From long ago, the locals nicknamed Blood Swamp because the executioners poured the water used to wash the executioners tools in here.

Perhaps it's for that reason that many people claim to have seen ghosts in the area.

Maybe that explains why James' rowboat is gone when you return to the dock.

actually it was me that discovered the missing text while going through my pc versions data files.
all the text from the games are contained within but are totalled scrambled and look like this:
example text

￾ €ÿúÿ2EMAINS OF ÿ÷8888ÿ÷ 3WAMPÿÿ €ÿúÿ4HE ÿ÷X METÿ÷ERS OF LAND SURROUNÿ÷DINGÿ÷ÿýÿ÷THÿ÷IS MONUMENT WAS ORIGINALLYÿýSWAMP BUT WAS LATER FILÿ÷LED INÿ÷ÿÿ €ÿúÿ&Rÿ÷OM LOÿ÷NG AGO Tÿ÷HE SWAMP WAÿ÷SÿýNICKNAMED "LOOD 3WAMP BECAUSEÿýTHE ÿ÷EXECUTIONÿ÷ERS POURED THE WATÿ÷ERÿ÷ÿýÿ÷Uÿ÷SED TO WASH THE EXÿ÷ECUTION TOÿ÷OLSÿýIN HEREÿÿ €ÿúÿ0ERHAPS ITS FOÿ÷R THAT REASON Tÿ÷HATÿýMANY PEÿ÷OPLE CLAIÿ÷M TO HAVE Sÿ÷EENÿ÷ÿýÿ÷GHOSTS Iÿ÷N THE AREAÿÿ ￾ €)

however i spent a whole day going through all the lines of code looking for what i wanted and when i found it i pasted it into a text editor and cleaned it up and made it readable.
i posted my finding here a long time ago bbut i guess they were lost to the ages.
well here they are for your reading enjoyment.
love 9a6.

Victim of persecution by the christians, Jennifer Carroll lived with pride and honor. What happened here shall never be forgotten.

Perhaps it is for that reason that many people claim to have seen ghosts in the area.

The body of a man later identified as Thomas Orosco, Lumberjack, age xx, was discovered in the middle of his room lying face up. The probable cause of death was multiple stab wounds to the front of the neck and the left side of the torso by a sharp edged weapon. The estimated time of death was somewhere between xxx p.m. and xxxx midnight. Due to signs of struggle in the room and the lack of a murder weapon, police are considering this a homicide and have opened a murder investigation. Furthermore, given the fact that the cash in the room was untouched and Orosco had a history of drunkenness and violence, the police suspect that the motive was not robbery but some sort of crime of passion.

They could have been sucked into the Other World [hence "dissapeared"] almost exactly like James dissapeared in Silent Hill.
