Just curious to see what you guys here prefer to play SH2 as, 2D or 3D?

Last time i played this game (and the time before that) i went though with 2D, worked fine just like it recently did with SH:O, however i recently started a new game of SH2 but switched to 3D hoping it would be interesting. From what i can tell it works just like in Resident Evil games prior to RE4, with the exception that in SH2 it's much more frustrating, mostly because there's no auto-targeting and thus makes combat much more difficult.

So anyways, what do you guys prefer?

2D for sure. I never liked having to press Up to move forward even though the avatar was facing the screen.

2D. I couldn't get along with the other control.

You can change the setting in the options menu.

I personally have always preferred the 3D setup, as I've been used to it ever since the first Resident Evil. I very much dislike that the 3D setup is no longer offered as an option, because I find the 2D scheme sloppy and imprecise, worse still in SH2 and SH3 because those games had the 2D system thrown in as an afterthought; the games are clearly not designed for the scheme.

It depends on the situation. Regularly, I use 2D when transversing the town and such, but during boss fights (especially Eddie), I use 3D when strafing is useful. But I'm trying to use the 3D scheme more often though.

2D control bugs me concerning silent hill; i'm used to 3D. another reason i found SH4 less favorable.

I hate using the D-pad to move James
And I find difficult to use the stick in 3D

I always used 3D control mode since my first playrough... Hell finished it 7 times with 3D controls... I'll try to play with 2D someday let's see how it comes out ;)

I'd always have it in the analogue-type movement (modern style) because it feels more intuitive, but I found the camera worked better when playing Resident Evil style (smoother rotation rather than jerking to look around as James changes direction quickly).

I've been playing it on PC lately with no gamepad and I find the Resident Evil style controls to be much better for a keyboard, but if I have an analog stick I'll pick the modern style one any day.
