 Post subject: Tips for newbies

first of all is fear:
if your to afraid to play alone then play with a friend you 2 can
help each other

but to highten the experience try playing alone with lights off

1. if your playing with a friend you should at least turn off the lights
for a little bit more scare

2. if your playing alone after about 2 worlds or more take a break for about half hour
before playing again to calm yourself remember to turn on the lights

secondly is where to go:

1.where to go in world is pretty obvious try looking around the world first
ok lets say your in subway world and you find tokens lets think for a moment
where would some tokens go into how bout lets try a door nope doesn't work
lets try the one of the turnstiles nope try the other turnstile yep then
look for other things like keys and items such as "keycards, valves, etc"
if you think it is a event item your probably right

third is hauntings:
1. some could be scary but don't worry you can get rid of them
just keep trying to place a "holy candle" in front of them if it says "you cannot use this here"
just keep on trying
2. if the haunting is just to scary for you either save and turn off the game for a while or
turn down the volume

hope this helps :)

Jk.

Just chill out and have fun.

Dont listen to henry, there's no reason to take breaks to "snap yourself out of it"

I personaly like to stay in the world as long as possible. It makes the continuity feel better.

Best time to play: Late at night, in the dark, alone. ALONE, ALONE, ALONE.

Silent Hill 4,I loved that game.Being in the apartment, looking thru the peephole on the unknowing, that was my favorite.I felt at home there. But out in the alternate worlds,I loved it.The scare effect,I wasn't really looking for that, more for the experience itself. But this game was not as weird to me as Silent Hill 3,but it was great,in it's own way.-Jeramy

 Do what Bio said. Also note that no matter how scary SH or any horror game out there is, always remember…It's just a game, so why be afraid to play a video game? Sure one thing is feeling a little scared or once in awhile jump out of your seat from a fright scene you weren’t expecting, but that's no reason for me not to play a horror game.

Funny thing is...the only haunting that scared me, was when he first gets out of the bed and the shadow of that crying child is right in the closet....I died, needless to say, and paniced. :P

Or have a small animal in your room with you. Say, a cat. You'll forget it's there when you get into the game, and it will scare the crap out of you if it starts making noise.

The fear is important... if you aren't afraid when you play with firends, then play alone!

I feel the same way...the cat in the fridge just amused me, (so -that's- what Henry was eating all that time!) and I thought most of the hauntings were just plain interesting. However, the child in the closet scared me to tears...

No kidding...I played most of the games with either three cats or three hamsters in the background, and they made jump nearly as much as the game.

The only advice I have, is save before using a holy candle. It's a
pain if you accidentely place one incorrectly.

This is very true. I like to only play alone but I do have my dog in the room sometimes. She is very very quiet and sometimes she will lay so still that I forget she is there staring at me. Then when I glance around I will see her still eyes staring at me unmoving, reflecting light. Very creepy... :|

Don't forget surround sound. If you can..get a chiar that has speakers inside of it. THAT..mixed with loneliness and no lights...will make you crap your pants. :D Also..if you can...play with headphones. The ones where it covers your whole ear..not just part.

Tips for n00bs:

1. The horrible monsters are pixals.

2. The noises are just digeredos and old men groaning in the restroom.

and if it gets too scary, turn it off, give the game to your mommy and she'll make all the horrible monsters go away.

Have you noticed on the back where it says "not for those with a nervous disposition" ...? Yeah, you could listen to that. ;)

:P

I've never seen that warning.. Just the crap about people with epilepsy on the inside of the game booklet.

I have nothing else to offer in this thread, because I can't think of anything. So, yeah. Oops.

It does in every booklet. Because here in America, if it's not stated, you can get sued.

Wow this thread's importance expired rather quickly...
