I was more expecting in-game evidence than your personal experience, though. I know I never had to live in a motel. Of course, some rooms do hint that the occupants have been living there for a while, so you may be right.

But I don't see any evidence to say that the Grady's lived outside of Silent Hill before committing Helen to the sanitarium. You may think that living in a motel proves that they did, but perhaps Richard just didn't want to be reminded of her much and what happened at the house.

I think it is and it's directly or indirectly connected to the world behind the mirror Helen Grady was talking about. So it's either the same world or one Travis created. Alessa has nothing to do with the mirrors.

If this is true, then why is she in them? And seemingly only in them?

To be fair, she does appear outside the mirrors in the first few minutes of the game.

As for being in the mirrors, Climax really went all out with the heavy-handed depiction of spooky evil psychic ghost girl. Guess they got their Japanese horror crossed.

Her real, burned-to-a-crisp self exists in the real world. However, since her nightmares are only accessible to Travis via some kind of a portal (thus the mirrors), her astrally projected self can only exist in the mirrors (her normal, non-burned self). Even in the beginning of the game before Travis even discovers her in the fire, he sees the psychic projection of Alessa in his rearview mirror.

Alessa only appears in the mirrors as long as the Flauros was disassembled. After Travis completes it, her apparition is seen in foggy Silent Hill. (Arguably, even in the real world in the Good Ending.)

Interesting theory. I'd have to say I agree.

Cybil seems to not interact with Dahlia at all in the game. Nor with Lisa.
Does she ever interact with Kauffman?

No, she does not. Though Cybil does interact with Dahlia at the end sequence if you save her.

She never addresses Dahlia or vice versa, but they just HAVE to see each other in the boat. Harry has been talking to her for about a minute, and Cybil doesn't seem to interrupt Harry in the middle of his conversation and ask, "Why are you talking to yourself?"

Also, Dahlia mentions that Alessa is headed to the lighthouse and amusement park. Cybil then says something to the effect of, "All right, Harry goes to the lighthouse, I'll go to the amusement park." So, she definitely heard what Dahlia was saying.

This is an old theory, though. I don't think even Droo agrees with it anymore.

Don't put words in my mouth. I have never denounced this theory at all.

Well geez, Droo.

If I said "I think" before my sentence, then I'm not putting words in your mouth. I'm still giving you the benefit of the doubt.

I think you read my response as more confrontational that it was.

Its not alessa who travis sees in the mirrors, its her image, a mental projection.

Er...both irrelevant, and moot. It's Alessa either way.

anyway, i finally took the time to read this theory, i just have a few problems with it...
I never saw Alessa actually attacking Harry (i mean as she wanted the Moth to attack Harry), i saw it more as something random, just like in any dream/nightmare :?
Harry was a kind and loving person to Cheryl, so why would Alessa want to kill someone who has been kind to her

And as we know Cybil got in somehow, i think she was seen be Alessa as helpfull:
Alessa wouldn't want Harry to die, and Cybil gives Harry a gun; Cybil seems as some kind of "antigen" against Dahlia, who gives Harry Supernatural advice, while Cybil is trying to rationalise everything.

Then the question: why would Alessa allow the parasite to attach to Cybil:
Alessa knew that Cybil wanted to stop her now, when she was in the Amusement Park, but she didn't want to kill her anyway: She has the parasite into Cybil.
Now with the parasite, she could stop Harry from getting to Alessa with the FLAUROS, but she didn't know that they would actually kill eachother...
(However, with the good ending, Harry could heal Cybil, and Cybil would have taken the risk of killing Dahlia actually, helping Alessa in her cause)

I hope this makes sense to other people :P

As a guiding force for Harry, would it not make as much sense for Cybil to be Cheryl’s pawn? If we were to assume that she either died when her motorcycle crashed or was otherwise drawn into the Otherworld by Cheryl/Alessa rather than being the Cop that mysteriously died (more on this later), why would Dahlia know anything about her? I personally find it more likely that Cheryl is the one behind Cybil, much the same way that it could be Cheryl leaving guns and health drinks all over the place. She wants to protect her father. This could easily mean that while Lisa is meant to lead Harry to the truth about Dahlia as the OP said, that Cybil existed within Silent Hill to lead Harry not to Alessa but to his daughter. This strikes me as being more likely simply because it seems that Cheryl/Alessa would be more likely to be aware of all of the pieces on the field than Dahlia. It also seems that unless Cybil was the cop that died of a heart attack (caused by the cult), that Dahlia would have had no reason to be aware of her. Whereas even if it was just seeing her drive past before causing Harry’s crash, Alessa(and thus Cheryl) could have seen her headed into town and figured that Harry had seen her as well.

If Cybil is a tool in Dahlia's hands, why the hell does she point a gun at her during the cutscene before god is born?

Maybe Alessa/Cheryl jacked control of her? Or maybe Dahlia had no more use of her but didn't take the time to actively get rid of her. Maybe she was Cheryl's the whole time and that was another attempt at helping Harry.
