How far was anyone able to make it out of that alley in the begining? I havent tried it in like a few years, but is it possible to make it out of that alley without the kids destroying you with knives?

I searched the forum and couldnt find a thread like this.

no, if you go back it's blocked off.

I once tried it with gameshark codes for infinite health, and I just found it blocked off (and was unable to progress until I restarted without codes).

^Yep. I never tried cheating to escape the alley, but I already knew that the grey children have to get you. The story builds off of what happens when you wake up.

There is no escape.

It's fairly easy to dodge the kids long enough to run back and then find that the way back is blocked. It's actually what happened my first time playing. I was pretty confused and I thought I had done something wrong until good ol' Harry woke up in the diner.

I damn near restarted the game the first time I played it. Glad I didn't.

It's still one of the scariest parts of the game (to me, anyway) and I'm glad we get to skip it on Next Fear games.

I second that. I freaked out.

ow everytime I start a new game ,I set the controller down, close my eyes, and plug my ears. I don't like when Harry gets hurt. :(

I'm the opposite. It angers me that I have to miss the whole beginning to the game when I play off a previous save. Sometimes I do an entire new, normal game because of that, or play a normal one just for the beginning before loading a Next Fear.

It's what hooked me, right away. It was almost certainly the most effective opening sequence in any video game I ever played.

There is no other way. It's a dead end.

That part freaked me out first time I played it, I kept trying to get away but all was blocked and I couldn't kill the Grey kids. My friend told me that they have to kill Harry. Then he wakes up. In a way I wish it was in Next Fear

I remember the first time I played Silent Hill, my brother (who'd played it once before) was with me for the beginning. When I was caught off guard by the grey children and at a loss for what to do, I was angry at him for not helping me out. But then I realized it was supposed to happen, and everything was good.
Kudos to him for not lessening the experience for me by telling me ahead of time that the attack would happen and Harry needed to be overtaken.

That's what I was saying. The beginning, including the alley, is great, and an important part of Silent Hill to me.

The reason no one else asked is prolly 'cause they figured it out. :P
