This is Mary's letter to Laura right?:

My dearest Laura, I'm leaving this
letter with Rachel to give to you
after I'm gone.

I'm far away now.
In a quiet, beautiful place.

Please forgive me for not saying
goodbye before I left.

Be well, Laura.

Don't be too hard on the sisters.

And Laura, about James...
I know you hate him because you
think he isn't nice to me, but please
give him a chance.

It's true he may be a little surly
sometimes, and he doesn't laugh
much. But underneath he's really
a sweet person.

Laura...
I love you like my very own
daughter.

If things had worked out
differently, I was hoping to
adopt you.

Happy 8th birthday, Laura.

Your friend forever,
Mary

Well...Look at the bold, does this mean that Mary and Laura stayed at some Catholic place?

And do we know anything about Rachel...The nurse?

It would certainly seem that way, given that Im catholic myself. Although, as is often the case with Silent Hill, things aren't always what they seem. Mary's reference to "sisters" could easily point towards a pseudo-religious sect in which a matriarchy presides. There's already a cult in Silent Hill, but imagine if there was something else - something only children truly understand and belong to. We know that all the young people of Silent Hill left when the cult formed, but what if some remained - like Laura? What if they possess their own esoteric codes and doctrines? They might even be able to manipulate the darkness for their own benefit. It might also explain how Laura manages to get around so easily by herself. Perhaps Mary had something to do with it too.

Am I reading into this too much?

The place where mary and Laura met was St Jerome Hospital in Ashfield.
Probably in this hospital there was a space for orphans (like Laura) and probably it was managed by some Christian-Religious group.

>>And do we know anything about Rachel...The nurse?
Only what we find out in SH4:The Room.

Take a look at the Mary/ia demon's headwear: She's wearing a habit.

I have not yet beat Silent Hill 4:The Room, what do we find out?

And I always thought that what she's wearing is a nurses suit....I did not know that it was a habit.

That
Frank Sunderland's son and daughter-in-law (James and Mary, respectively) "disappeared in Silent Hill a few years back."
It doesn't give an exact SH2 ending as the precise finale, but it does cast a rather ominous shadow.

I have a question! Since I have been speculating so i want to hear others opinions about it..
does that mean because they "disappeared" that
James really did kill mary a week or less prior, and no one knew it, then either killed himself or just disappeared? And I'm assuming he told everyone that him and Mary are going to SH, so she could die there?
>does that mean because they "disappeared" that...
Yes. It implies that James told Frank he's going to Silent Hill--because Mary was there already, hospitalized--and, after being released, Mary & James didn't return home long enough for anyone to be aware of their homecoming.

At the end of SH2, she says 'The doctors say I can go home soon for a short while, you know what that means..' or something very very similiar.

That means her and Laura stayed somewhere else, I think. Laura went to the mental hospital because she thought Mary might have been relocated there.

It was probably a religious hospital. St. Jerome someone said.

She was living at South Ashfield Heights Apartments, sometime between 1976 and 2004, and was dating another tenant in the building--an artist. She was employeed at St. Jerome's Hospital in Ashfield, and tended to Mary Shepherd-Sunderland & Laura.

Umm I don't know about anywhere else, but over here in Australia Im pretty sure all nurses are reffered to as 'sister'. My neighbours mum is a nurse and when we have to ring the hospital and ask for her we have to refer to her as 'Sister Jane'. So yeah...

Sisters are just crappy versions of nurses. I highly doubt it has anything to do with nuns.
