You know what I found really ironic? When Rose awakens at one point in the movie (after the baby zombie incident) the Johnny Cash song "Ring of Fire" is playing on the jukebox. It was funny, because a big factor in the movie (as well as the games) was that of burning (Alessa being burned by Dahlia in the games, then by Christabella in the movie). Heh, it was kind of a foreshadowing as to what was to come later. Weird...

It's actually a little deeper than you think. Listen to the lyrics. It's about Rose, not Alessa.

Johny cash might be a fan of the game? He may have made that song just for the game in the past cause he was really a magic wizard who saw the game in the future! Anyone support my idea?

I think the song fits very well when you really listen to the words. Pretty clever really :)

Yes, a very clever touch. I thought it had as much to do with the burning demons chasing Rose before the scene as it did with foreshadowing what would happen to her later on.

It was obvious. Even Roger Ebert commented on it in his review of the movie. Was the only thing about the movie he said that wasn't directly negative, though.

Hmm, but who played that music on the juke box?

Was it Dark Alessa who was using the music as a hint for Rose or something? o.o

I'd say so. She was throwing hints her way throughout the whole movie. That was the main focus. Her surviving the gray children and arriving at the bowling alley was through Dark Alessa as well.

Hmmmm now we can all get a hint of what kind of music is found in Silent hill? Sure as hell don't look like they have your average modern pop or so?

Well, in the case of the movie, it would be rather impossible, considering that the town's been in a time-warp since the mid-seventies.

Didn't Rose ever get tired of just running after a little girl that looked like Sharon? After the third time in the factory, I couldn't help but sigh. But don't take this comment the wrong way, I loved the movie!

Ebert said in his review that "Ring of Fire" couldn't have fitted better anywhere else.

No, I doubt he played video games. Besides, wasn't this song written by June Carter and another songwriter? Johnny Cash didn't write it.

I thought it was awesome when I heard this song playing in the movie, since I've always really liked Johnny.

It wasn't my first reaction to try to apply the lyrics to a specific thing in the movie, other than Rose's immediate situation; it was just after she had first encountered doom, and the lyrics related to that as well as things later in the movie. Rose was in danger of burning doom for the sake of her love for her daughter.
Lyrics: http://www.lyricsondemand.com/j/johnnyc ... yrics.html

Perhaps someone behind the movie, such as Gans, is a fan of Johnny Cash.

I didn't really like the song in the movie, made it all feel like it took place in the "Real World".

Really? I thought it was about Alessa because of when she got burned. She fell into a "ring of fire".
I didn't get that the first time I heard that in the theaters though.

there is the obvious ring of fire for Alessa, but why is it concerning Rose? she fell into hell because of her love for Sharron?

Why don't we just say it applies to both Rose and Alessa? I myself think it's a bit much to presume that it's supposed to apply to events so much later in the movie as the revelation that Alessa was burned.
It applies pretty well to Rose's situation at the time it is played, and in that case, the rest of the lyrics make sense too, rather than only the chorus.
