Re: Six Stakes - Final boss

A strong-based theory, good sir. I find that perfectly reasonable of an interpretation.

Re: Six Stakes - Final boss

but what could explain the fact that Aglaophotis is used to disperse evil spirits, and Baphomet is the result of using it on the god? Because the Aglaophotis only worked because Alessa thought it did, and she grouped the God in with evil spirits because she knew it was going to hurt people. There c...

Re: So which ending is canon?

This is stupid. To argue that Cybil is alive is to argue that Team Silent are shitty storytellers. Is that the road you want to go down? I agree here in a sense that Good ending is most apparently canon. With all this evidence (and the lack thereof to entirely support any other ending) we can quite...

Re: Six Stakes - Final boss

Here's what my text book says about the divinatory meanings of "the six of wands": Conquest. Triumph. Good news. Gain. Advancement. Expectation. Desires realized - the results of efforts. (Reverse meanings: Indefinite delay. Fear. Apprehension. Disloyalty. Superficial benefit. Inconclusiv...

to The Order*'s attempts to have Alessa give birth to the 'god', which in fact is the devil Okay, I might be a little rusty with my SH theorizing, but the cults god is not the devil. The only item in the game to suggest anything like this is a memo about opposing religious groups dubbing the god wi...

Not quite. Nowhere has properties unique to that particular reality that clearly seperate it from alternate Silent Hill, most notably the nonsensical and physically impossible layout that indicates that this place is made up of fragments of Alessa's subconscious that don't really exist in a physica...

Six Stakes - Final boss

As we all know Silent Hill is heavily based on occultism, both fictional and real. There's a great deal of material inspired by Aleister Crowley's writings, such as his attempts to concieve the 'magickal child' (juxtaposed to The Order*'s attempts to have Alessa give birth to the 'god', which in fac...

Re: How old were you when you played the first silent hill?

I was 7 years old when we bought Metal Gear Solid w/ the Silent Hill demo included. Needless to say it seriously scared the shit out of me. I think I was around ten, eleven years old when I got to finish the game for the first time. Now I wish I could be as easily disturbed as back then; the feeling...

Is this thread made of sarcasm, op?
Origins has nothing to do with the best Silent Hill game, except for being a prequel to it.

Re: The "I got it" & Impressions thread

I'm kind of a cheap-ass right now, and had to resort to playing 0rigins with a PS2 emulator. Too bad the emulator is making it really hard to enjoy the game, having a retardedly buggy flashlight (black clipping everywhere), but I did get it working properly for a short time. My first impression is p...

Re: Worst case scenario (Vatra, this is what we don't want)

^And what has it been shown to be, exactly? We've gotten about a minute or two of actual footage, and bits and pieces of information that lack context or detail. If you're able to judge a game based on such limited information, you are a wizard. I had my doubts about the Silent Hill movie as well a...

Hmmm... I'd have to say I wouldn't want SH: Downpour to be what it has shown to be. It is fairly obvious, that Silent Hill lost its touch after the third game.

^I suppose they balance that whole fuck-our-original-business-base by giving us the achievements that come with the game? Iunno... It does feel kinda cheap. Still, plenty of games still give us the bonus earned stuff, so at least our little personal moments of achievement haven't gone the way of th...

Re: Worried that Downpour will be too "casual."

They've just figured out another way to make money, that doesn't really bother me(though I see your point). What worries me is how the hell they're going to incorporate DLCs into a Silent Hill game. Exactly. TO MAKE MONEY. They don't give a fuck about gamers anymore, just money and paying customers...
