Re: Gillespie House

That's fair, I just can't do that myself. If a game (or book or whatever) is part of the overall narrative, I have to look at it all together. It seems that's what Masahiro Ito is doing—especially in saying Silent Hill 2 takes place in the late '70s or early '80s. That might have been his/their inte...

Re: Gillespie House

> Not everything needs an explanation and the Gillespie house is one of those things that doesn't need it.< This is just such an easy thing to explain, though. So much so that, while it might not matter in the grand scheme of things, there’s even less of a point to dispute it. Heck, it’s even addres...

Re: Gillespie House

Silent Hill: Origins didn’t create inconsistencies. They were already there since game one. Climax didn’t state the Gillespie house was in the business district and then depict it in the middle of a field—Team Silent did. That’s on them. Origins expanded on ideas already presented in the original g...

Re: Gillespie House

>The problem is that you can't say for sure that the house seen in the intro is the Gillespie house.< Well considering the exterior of the Gillespie house seen in Silent Hill: Origins is identical to the one depicted in Silent Hill 's intro is all the evidence we need to know it's the same house. It...

Re: Silent Hill 2 Timeline

While it may very well be true these calendars are quick throwaways someone tossed together in a few minutes, it doesn’t discount the relevance they hold in the grandish scheme of things. They neatly tie in with each other, and cooperate with the overall timeline suggested in later entries and suppl...

Re: Silent Hill 2 Timeline

>it is claimed that it says "November '84" or "November 1984" when the text doesn't clearly say that in the game itself< Again, I have never claimed it reads "November '84." It reads "November" with 11 beneath that. November is the 11th month of the year. >I d...

Re: Silent Hill 2 Timeline

If Walter's diary didn't coincide with the year the game was first in development, I'd probably consider it nothing. But it does, and it also works with what Henry says about James and Mary's disappearance, as well as supplementary material. When everything fits nicely together in a neat little pack...

Re: Silent Hill 2 Timeline

It doesn’t read November 1984, I’ve never said that. It just reads November. But you can clearly see that the month begins on a Thursday. And, looking at previous real-world calendars, that happens in 1984, 1979, and 1973 most recently, as previously noted, and we know SILENT HILL 2 happens 10 years...

Re: Silent Hill 2 Timeline

We know James and Mary visited Silent Hill three years ago, so the scenario was always most likely when they visited and got sick was when "Mary died of that damn disease." Figuratively. And then James repressed his three years with his ill wife. Her doctor even says she has "three ye...

Re: Silent Hill 2 Timeline

Another reason why I’ve said SILENT HILL 2 occurs in 1994 is because of Amy Baldwin. In her bedroom, there is a calendar for the month of November. The implication being this is the month she tragically died, ten years ago , according to Ernest. Looking further into it when developing my timeline, I...

Re: Silent Hill 2 Timeline

>I don't think you should. Or at least I don't think you have to.< It sounds like you've forgotten precisely who I am 'round here. Kidding. But, for real, my timeline has always been (arguably) the most accurate and comprehensive, and the first, and the one on which everyone else's is based, so I'm ...

Re: Silent Hill 2 Timeline

Everything is pretty outdated all around, really. But that always seemed to be what the developers were going for. I'll tinker some tomorrow to try and make it work. But I know THE ROOM's proximity to SILENT HILL 3 is gonna be difficult to realistically make sense of. >Walter's Diary (the memos in t...

Re: Silent Hill 2 Timeline

So now SILENT HILL is in the late '60s/early '70s? Okay, how about this. Let's adjust my timeline to fit this new narrative. Let's just say SILENT HILL 2 is set in 1979. That's 15 years earlier. In keeping with my traditional timeline, using as many sources as possible to corroborate the time betwee...

Re: Silent Hill 2 Timeline

>If I remember correctly, we got the 90s date from expanded Homecoming materials.< Nah, I had SILENT HILL 2's date before HOMECOMING was released, I just can't remember exactly how right now. I'll have to go through my notes when I get home. We know SILENT HILL 4: THE ROOM has to occur in 2001 due t...

Re: Tracks Identification + General Questions

It was released as a promo for SILENT HILL 3, far as I can remember. It's not used in the game—it wasn't even released 'til, like, 2003.
