Re: The Rope In The Dance Studio

Can you post (or send) a pic of it and the commentary? I honestly don’t remember it.

Re: Where did mary die? (spoilers in thread, not title)

SILENT HILL 3 has a lot of references to ghosts, so I've always taken Stanley's diary and the doll as another example of ghosts actually manifesting in Silent Hill. I think this was the precursor to SILENT HILL 4: THE ROOM, in which ghosts are introduced as a mainstay of the series, but in a very di...

Re: Mary stayed at Brookhaven Hospital (massive overhaul):

Thanks! I'm proud of it, for sure. And I love seeing the occasional but ever-present MARY DIDN'T STAY AT BROOKHAVEN comments on Facebook or Reddit or wherever. I don't care what Masahiro Ito says: SILENT HILL 2 did not take place in the '70s/'80s and Mary stayed at Brookhaven Hospital. And I will pu...

Re: Mary stayed at Brookhaven Hospital (massive overhaul):

>However, isn't the road that goes out from to the town to Pleasant River completely blocked off?< It is. I looked at the map, though, and, based on how James parked (if you can call it that), it appears he took a longer route out of town. Perhaps to collect his thoughts on what he actually did. Or,...

Re: Mary stayed at Brookhaven Hospital (massive overhaul):

This thread is really great. Thank you all for participating! I know this is a decade too late or so, but, well, some obsessions never become not obsessions. And, as per more recent lookings-into, I’m even more convinced Mary stayed at Brookhaven, based on the actual timeline of the game’s events, m...

Re: Where did mary die? (spoilers in thread, not title)

Except . . . we don’t see Mary’s death firsthand. It’s strictly in a The Ring -like VHS memory-branding. That also doesn’t explain Laura being present when she was with Mary at St. Jerome’s in Ashfield. Or that the town is abandoned when the town was not when the newlyweds visited previously. Or lot...

Re: Your favorite ending and why.

While Rebirth is still my favorite, and In Water my least, over the years I do feel In Water is probably the most likely conclusion, especially after the recent discussion about where and when Mary died. I guess some 20 years of life experience has provided me more insight into this game/story. We'v...

Re: Where did mary die? (spoilers in thread, not title)

I don't know why but I've always thought the crying was from whoever was in 202, the room with the photos. In my mind they were a victim of suicide and the puling was the remnant of their memory. >I would think a motel in or around Silent Hill would make more sense than an abandoned building though....

Re: Where did mary die? (spoilers in thread, not title)

>Yeah, that’s kinda what I figured—not indicative or anything. If anything that’s room 209 or 210.< I'm an idiot. That would potentially be room 208 if you start at 200 on the left side. >I really don't see any evidence that he took her anywhere other than home to kill her.< It doesn't make sense th...

Re: Where did mary die? (spoilers in thread, not title)

Yeah, that’s kinda what I figured—not indicative or anything. If anything that’s room 209 or 210. The bed on which James was told of Mary’s condition could be anywhere. I don’t think it’s as important to this conversation. But I definitely believe the final stage is supposed to represent where Mary ...

Re: Where did mary die? (spoilers in thread, not title)

This might be a nine-year-old thread, but I think I have the answer, and it's really not far from what I've always thought: An undisclosed location not far from Silent Hill. A conversation about the cell in which Maria is killed was initiated by Droo today, regarding that room's door being marked 20...

>For a wooden house that was known to have suffered a violent conflagration, it looked almost unscathed<
Many of those scenes were from prior to Alessa's immolation, so the house appearing in its previous state isn't unexpected.

Re: Gillespie House

That's fair, I just can't do that myself. If a game (or book or whatever) is part of the overall narrative, I have to look at it all together. It seems that's what Masahiro Ito is doing—especially in saying Silent Hill 2 takes place in the late '70s or early '80s. That might have been his/their inte...

> Not everything needs an explanation and the Gillespie house is one of those things that doesn't need it.< This is just such an easy thing to explain, though. So much so that, while it might not matter in the grand scheme of things, there’s even less of a point to dispute it. Heck, it’s even addres...

Re: Gillespie House

Silent Hill: Origins didn’t create inconsistencies. They were already there since game one. Climax didn’t state the Gillespie house was in the business district and then depict it in the middle of a field—Team Silent did. That’s on them. Origins expanded on ideas already presented in the original g...

>The problem is that you can't say for sure that the house seen in the intro is the Gillespie house.< Well considering the exterior of the Gillespie house seen in Silent Hill: Origins is identical to the one depicted in Silent Hill 's intro is all the evidence we need to know it's the same house. It...

Re: Silent Hill 2 Timeline

While it may very well be true these calendars are quick throwaways someone tossed together in a few minutes, it doesn’t discount the relevance they hold in the grandish scheme of things. They neatly tie in with each other, and cooperate with the overall timeline suggested in later entries and suppl...
