No, I mean exclusively use samples from these collections, not make our own music.

But I do have a feeling a fourth edition is probably due at this point.

He composed the soundtrack of Layers of Fear which I'm a big fan of and is not very far from SH style, but I don't know about his other works. If so I think he did an a pretty good job, it's very melancholic and listen to it quite often. Whether it will fit a Silent Hill game or not is another story, but I hope he can do justice to Yamaoka's phenomenal score.

This thread was created as a place for fans to discuss, help identify, and catalog all the various sounds utilized by Akira Yamaoka during his time as composer/sound designer for the Silent Hill series.

The majority of sounds used for the creation of the Silent Hill soundtracks and in-game sound effects/ambience are samples/loops that originate from commercially available sample libraries produced by companies such as Big Fish Audio, Zero-G, Spectrasonics, etc. If you have uncovered any of these sounds and wish to contribute to this thread, please feel free to do so. However, you should first make an effort to make sure that what you're posting hasn't already been posted. Utilize the search function, or skim through the thread first.

Also, uploading and linking to individual samples is fine, but do not attempt to share or ask for complete libraries. And, per forum rules, do not share links to warez/torrent/whatever sites or music/sounds from the Silent Hill soundtracks/games. That's a no no.

General discussion regarding production techniques and equipment used by Akira Yamaoka is also welcome here.

This is a compilation of sounds listed throughout this thread. It will be periodically updated:

Sample folder download (Alternate Link)

This is fantastic! Thank you!

This may be very helpful for my Silent Hill pinball game I'm making!
The current progress of my Silent Hill pinball (video) game can be seen here:

Did anyone find the pad for "Noone Love You"?
And all I found out about the pad is that it's somewhere in the Bizarre Guitar or Distorted Reality 1 & 2 libraries.

Played Short Message for a bit and recognized a couple sounds right off. Actually noticed one before even starting the game. The main atmosphere/pad sound in the menu music (the PS5 menu, when you select the game) is from the Loopmasters library Aethers 01. And early on in the game there's a distorted bass loop from the Sample Magic library Dark Cinematic Electronica: https://splice.com/sounds/sample/2500e9 ... a7459e283c

It never ends! haha
"Oh yeah, I've been here before
I can see it with eyes closed
Shadows that look like blood
Dead as far as the mind goes
Fear that comes from my head
Lives in the mirror"

As long as Yamaoka is still around, we'll still have our little treasure hunt! :D
