Ahaha, I love this for multiple reasons. People so do overthink things beyond the creators' intention; if that's the explanation, it's far simpler than the entire argument in the "Bogeyman" thread.

Though, this does confirm PH as a part of cult mythos, thankfully, which apparently wasn't clear before (I always assumed that was the case...). I guess that's a reasonable explanation on some counts - I guess that bit about the children's tale supports it being Alex's PH.

But... "an accretion of the activities going on in Shepherd's Glen" is that lovely vague answer that could support anything. Good going on that answer there, DH.

I wish they asked if they got anything from here.

I wish there was some sort of contextual hint within Homecoming itself to support their claims about Pyramid Head's appearance. It sort of smells like a "oh shit, they didn't like it, let's come up with an explanation after the fact" sort of deal.

Despite this, I do like how they have eventually explained his appearance. Even though there's no way to figure this out in the game itself, it makes nice sense. I can dig it.

I also wonder why they didnt put it with Alex having at least 1 fighting scene with Pyramid Head? He's just like James

1. James and Alex want punishment for killing someone they love.

2.They both killed a loved one. (i dunno i just put it)

Because PH still does serve a different purpose here - DH seems to be implying that it's Shepherd's Glen's PH, not any specific person's PH, from the sounds of it, and IMO, it's always been obvious that SHH's PH served a different role from SH2's.

And though it isn't necessarily supported in-game, it works well enough, so I'm satisfied. I like how the answer left enough vagueness to allow for personal interpretation, too - most of the explanations in the "Bogeyman" thread still work with their blurb, and it makes me wonder if the PH in SHH is manifested by the children's ghosts, seeking retribution.

Heh, it's still sort of an ambiguous non-answer. PH is a common figure to the SG residents - that much was obvious in-game - and "accretion of activities" could refer to almost anything....

And Droo, just because it wasn't explicit as it was in SH2 doesn't mean that they put no thought into it. Through the children's tale, it was obvious that DH intended Pyramid Head to be a common part of the SG sect's folklore/mythos, which provides about as much evidence as they gave, when you really think about what was said in the interview. It doesn't seem at all to me like they're pulling anything out of thin air.

...In fact, it doesn't seem to me like they pulled out anything at all, 'cause it doesn't seem to say anything that isn't already evident in the game.

Hey now, the movie had an explanation too; he represented Alessa's perception of men (thanks Colin).

That makes sense to me, and I like the explanation given. So maybe now all the bitching about PH being in Homecoming will cease, and we can finally go on with some other discussions about this game other than PH that is.

Oh, David. You clearly don't know how SH fans work at all. You should know by now that hoping for a cessation of bitching and discussion about anything but PH are both lofty, unrealistic expectations.

Aren't you forgetting the countless drawings mentioning the "Boogeyman"? Saying that there was nothing in the game pointing toward his purpose is just stupid.

"Countless"? :?

You're making it sound like there's a hellacious lot of children's drawings all showing Pyramid Head as Adam and Alex both saw him. I don't remember anywhere near that number being that candidly explicit.

Don't call me stupid and I won't call you an asshole. Alrighty? Alrighty.

I hadn't even realized until last night while replaying Homecoming that there was text attached to the drawings. I never bothered to examine them in the journal, since I barely ever opened it.

It's not Maria, it's just the cages. Which means the form of the "Mary" monster was probably also derived from the painting and the relationship between her and PH is much more historical than we thought.
