I'm not sure if this has been discussed before, but if it has, forgive me. I found the website http://www.igotaletter.com/, and it has an insight section I found very, very interesting. This article proposes that Laura, like Maria, is not real.

For those of you interested, I would like to know what you think. Personally, after reading this, it does make more sense that Laura would not be real, especially since she doesn't appear in any of the other endings but 'Leave'. But I'll leave the rest of the evidence for Anne to extrapolate.

Laura As A Manifestation

Re: Laura As A Manifestation
I don't really think it matters if Laura is real or not, but as far as I'm concerned I consider Laura, Angela and Eddie to be as real as James, while at the same time representing different aspects of James' mind as though they were all drawn together for that purpose. I think that as far as the game goes we are really only meant to know that Maria and Mary are the delusions, the others you could probably consider either way you want to interpret it, since knowing wouldn't change what they are in relation to James, who is the focal point of the story. Laura to me is the innocent and pure part of James' love for Mary, as well as literally being a child who knew and loved her that way.

Laura seems to me to be real. She came with Eddy I believe. I used to think of her as a manifestation, but ... I was probably wrong.
