Aspect Ratio

Post by der Morgenstern Czigany »

Apologizes if this was asked/explained before. But what is it? I figured it was almost like a difficulty setting, how well you think you can do. (I think the choices are 4:3, 16:9, but that's from the top of my head :? ). I usually pick the first one. But what does that mean? Does it do anything? Which one do you guys pick? Oh, and am I missing anything, 'cause I don't think it explains what it is in the booklet. :?

But grinning aside, it allows you to play in standard format, the first one, or widescreen, the second one =)

Okay, never mind. But thanks. :D

Hahaha. That's hilarious :)

4:3 represents 4 ( inch/feet/etc. ) by 3 ( inch/feet/etc. ) ratio. If you took a ruler and drew a 4x3 inch shape, it's almost a square. 16:9 is an obvious rectangle.. Normal tvs are 4:3, and widescreen tvs are 16:9. Hope this helps!

Oh, okay.
I've only seen it with the x in the middle-- 4x3, not like, 4:3 .
Thanks! :)

I think a " : " means "to", right? as in something compared to another thing? But then why aren't all measurements that way? Do we have an expert on this?

" to " and "by " mean the same thing. ' : ' is to and ' x ' is by.

You know, I asked Davy what that was when I started to play and he said it was something about the screen. Why does this game have this? That's what I really wanna know. And why is there like an English flag for the English language?

Actually, I wish all games had that option.

Whenever I have a game going on a flatscreen TV, the thing either stretches or you see up to the 4:3 and two hideous black lines ( the black background ) on the sides. By giving people a flatscreen ratio, they can select the fullscreen and play it without the stretched graphics ( which makes everything fat looking )

Because it would be hilarious if they had put an American flag instead! :)

Well it was just creepy since mine is like the american version I guess. Lol. Maybe they got lazy with that part.

Okay, well that makes sence. I figured that the 6:13 or wahtever ration would be really long on my television. Interesting.

It has it because this game was originally on PSP which only has an aspect ratio of 16:9 (widescreen) while the PS2 and output in both 4:3 or 16:9, so they offer this because some people don't have widescreen TVs, so if they kept the 16:9 ratio as standard, everything would look squashed to fit the 4:3 tvs. That is why the option is there, to preserve the game's original presentation.

...um...

It has nothing to do with versions. English was invented by the good people in England. That's why it has their flag. They deserve credit as their language. Americans don't have a language; it is only English by default because it happens to be what people speak most. If, say, someday this whole country is completely taken by Hispanics as estimated in the year 2020 ( just kidding! Don't get offended people... ) we'll be speaking Spanish and call it " American ". Buenas dias, chica! :)

That's not the English flag; that's the United Kingdom flag.

This is the English flag: Image:mrgreen:
