Blue Halo.

Post by Anonymous »

Now, in the cult's library there's a small reference to the Halo of the Sun, which mentions it is an affront to the god if it's drawn in blue. I didn't think this had any game relevance until I came across this picture.

I never understood the significance of that door and the moonstone, and now I learn it's some kind of heretical inscription? This is over my head a bit, anyone have some ideas?

Paste it into browser.
Nice picture! I never even noticed that!

Anyway, I don't think it's in blue -- seems black to me.

What? That is totally blue.
In every other place, it's in red ink...why use a borderline-heretical bluish black ink? 'Cause you're a heretic and you're insulting the god with blue.

Well.. the riddle on the door sounds something like an alusion to "childbirth" (not sure about the moonstone and crescent moon, but all I can think of is the association of a woman's menstruation period being, in earlier days, called her "moon time") so. The door aludes to birth (Heather giving birth to God) and the "cursed" Halo of the Sun implies ... um. A curse.. on... the whole birthing process?

:headdesk: Not sure.
I'm not dead yet, dammit.

Here guys, you are welcome:

From the hand written notes in one of the rooms in the Chapel.
(From Japanese version, that's why they are US English)
1. It represents the deity known as "The Halo of the Sun". In heraldry, symbolizes a religious group.
2. The two outer circles are charity and resurrection; the three inner circles are present, past, and future.
3. Usually drawn in red. Occasionally drawn in black or other colors, but blue reverses the meaning into a curse on God and is therefore forbidden.

Checking the metaphysical beliefs on moonstone, it is apparently connected to the cycle of death and birth in a specific sense - one's own personal death and rebirth. More generally it represents renewal.

Thanks Tourniquet, that's the passage I had in mind. Now the question is whether the ink is actually in black or blue...if it's blue, the blue isn't really bright or striking, though there is a bluish tint. I wouldn't wonder if it was actually meant to be black if the text didn't mention it specifically, but now there's some doubt on the matter.

Is that the only Halo in the game you can't save at? I seem to recall being able to save even at the one drawn on the ground.

It looks blue-greenish to me. Maybe it's just some fungi added for the effect?
If it's located in the Cult Library, then it shouldn't be drawn blue since that's the opposition. So I'll go with black.

Hmm, lets just say it is blue-black because there is really no way to discern. Either way it is not drawn as a positve to God otherwise there would be hints of red. All I can see is that all of the lines in the Halo are a very dark color (presumebly black) while the wall (as decayed and dirty as it is) has a blueish tint to it.

The wall itself is only bluish around the Halo...it seems to me as though the ink has run.

It's not in the cult library, Amphreded, this would be in the Otherworld Mall. Krist, can you post the words on the door? Maybe I can puzzle out different cult meanings depending on whether the Halo is respectful or disrespectful.

This reminds me of something I noticed about Eddie and made had some thoughts of a little while ago. I made a write up on another forum I will fetch it and post it in the SH2 area.

It's not blue. It was black, but now worn down to this blurred black color. The color of the wall blurs with the black giving it a bluish grey tint.

There has yet to appear a blue Halo of the Sun in SH.

I guess it was just weird that the only part of the wall that was bluish was around the Halo. I suppose however that it could really be ink of some sort because black ink does run blue or violet and leaves behind a faded black line.

That's what I was thinking.
I think it's in black too. I don't think I can see why it'd be in blue there.

If it was blue. They would've made it blue enough, so you wouldn't doubt whether it was in fact blue or not.

Agreed. If someone wanted to leave a heretical message, I think they would make it slightly clearer...it just seems rather illogical to me.
Still, it's an interesting subject. I keep hoping there will be a blue one in the next game, as I'm interested in them using one.

Yeah, you guys are probably right. Black ink does run and fade at the edges into a blue or violet. Now I'd just like to puzzle out the message on the door...

I used to think it was the blue halo of the sun, but if you look at the actual color of the lines of the seal it is black. But why did they mention about a blue halo meaning a curse? Could one of the other sects worshipped a blue version?
