Although it's a shame that Jodelle couldn't be involved with the film, I think that they cast Young Sharon perfectly. That girl looks almost exactly like Jodelle did at that age. I don't think they could've done a better job casting Dark Alessa/Young Sharon.

Well, we don't know how large a role Young Alessa will play in this so it's hard to say how it would affect anything. It will likely be minor past reflective stuff though. Heather will still be at the forefront of everything.

To be honest...I thought that the new Dark Alessa was just a CGI'ed copy of Jodelle's image because whenever they show her, she looks fake or "off" in a way that it appears not like a real person. You know that "look" the characters have in 'Final Fantasy The Spirits Within'! They look great for CGI but the human eye can tell something is just not quite right and obviously not perfectly realistic. So maybe Bassett wants her to appear "off" and not quite humanly perfect???
Anyways, I was surprised to learn that a real child is playing Dark Alessa!

I thought she looked quite different in the trailer but, in that IMDB pic she looks shockingly similar to young Ferland.

Not really. I do not see many similarities. I'm sure with makeup it won't make a difference though.
I do like the new look Dark Alessa has though. It's less subtle, yet less cheesy than the original somehow. I'm not sure how to explain it. lol No snaggle tooth though. That's a plus.
