(I'm kidding. I'm confident that we're getting these projects. There's not likely to be Kojima-level internal drama this time around.)

Also if Konami is struggling financially that's a motivation to not only release these games but to get them right and make sure they're actually good.

Or it could be motivation to push rushed projects out the door. But based on the delayed timeline I'm leaning towards them taking the time to do this right.

They probably know this is their last chance to salvage any goodwill with the gaming community. To churn out subpar product just for a quick buck would have worse long-term consequences than taking a little extra time to get it right.

Konami as a company is financially well off. This just happened to be a very bad quarter for them, which was partially attributed to digital games. It does mean that Konami will be looking to restrategize, and the general industry news is that live-service and GAAS titles with rare exceptions are now a very risky and difficult and expensive undertaking. Even Microsoft failed at it with it's flagship franchise - Halo Infinite. The result has been layoffs across the industry.

In Japan, there is more job security, even if Konami locks you up in an office doing nothing. Nonetheless, they will try to pivot and make use of their employees, so unlike the West, there is a greater need to solve the problem without relying on layoffs.

So this may explain why there seems to be more interest at Konami to try and make a larger comeback to single player console titles and shifting to cater to gaming outside of the Japanese mobile market as a priority.

Silent Hill should be fine, as it had nothing to do with the missed targets.

I think it's a shame CrimeSight didn't work out for them. It was a really neat little multiplayer game that never found an audience. I hope they keep the Metal Gear Survive servers up forever, like they seem to be doing with games like Peace Walker.

I also hope we get Silent Hill The Short Message at the next Sony showcase.

Do we know when the next showcase is going to be?

There's lots of rumors of a Sony showcase happening within the next month or two but nothing concrete. PSVR2 launches next week though so I imagine they are going to be focused on that. It's always possible The Short Message has been given a VR mode or something, I guess, but personally I think whatever that is remains in such a weird state I'm keeping my expectations at 0. They've handled this whole thing so strangely.

As for SH2 Remake, pure speculation but I'd guess we will see it again in Summer. I think it's gonna be a 2024 game personally but I wouldn't be upset to be wrong there.

Those PSVR2s won't sell themselves.

The question is whether SH will get ignored in favor of RE4 instead.

Ignoring Suicide Squad's 15 mins, that leaves 30 minutes for 15 other titles.

Short Message is likely if it is one of their VR projects.

Townfall could also fit their indy/3rd party slate. But it's unlikely to be there as they will focus on things closer to release.

SH2 Remake is also unlikely as I think that exclusive title is significant enough to get it's own dedicated SOP.

Apparently Sony is planning a Showcase prior to E3. So that's probably our best bet.
