Re: Wild speculation
I just wish someone could get a screenshot of the distance-to-Portland sign in SILENT HILL: DOWNPOUR. I remember seeing it, just never bothered to write it down, and I can't recall where specifically it is.
>Lake Seabago in Maine is pretty close to Portland, and it has quite a few beaches even though it's an in-land lake.<
Yeah that's a pretty massive lake at five miles across. For reference, Toluca Lake—at least according to the fan-made complete map—is roughly 15 miles across from the end of Nathan Ave. to Pleasant River.

Yeh, I think the whole point of that line was to poke fun at the line of thinking that all western games are the same. i.e. A poor imitation of Silent Hill 2.MistahJ wrote: ↑20 Oct 2022 I saw a post on Twitter speculating that it isn't really about "punishment". If you listen to what the guy is saying, it sounds like the person he is talking to said he was there to be punished, but the interrogator believes he is lying about this and is actually in Silent Hill for another reason. I'm hoping this is the twist and that it may not be what it seems at first.
No Code are better than that.
My personal view is that it may relate to Silent Hill 1, but is not directly focused on Alessa. The person being interrogated could potentially be involved in the cult. Furthermore, as was mentioned on the discord by another user, the beach with waves could be symbolic of electromagnetic waves. To expand on that idea, I think the small portable tv screen might be Townfall's version of the radio, with information being viewable on the portable screen, helping you solve puzzles.

Re: Wild speculation
Now that SH2Rs release is close I've been thinking about what this is and F. Judging by No Codes past there is a good chance this is a narrative driven Puzzle game. I hope that they have more traditional SH gameplay, but I'll play Observer SH Edition if it means great characters and new juicy lore.

Re: Wild speculation
Depends how you define ‘close’, I feel this won’t be coming any earlier than 2025. The scope of the project increased as was mentioned on the No Code Twitter account, so that could push it back further too.
Re: Wild speculation
SH2R isn't until October. There is zero chance this is coming anytime before 2025.
Too many SH products too close together could limit interest and sales.

Re: Wild speculation
Thinking about it more, we had Ascension kick off in October 2023. Silent Hill 2 remake is coming October 2024. I wonder if we get Townfall and f in fall of 2025 and 2026 respectively. Konami may be trying to make Silent Hill an annual (or near-annual) release like Resident Evil has been for a while.
Re: Wild speculation
Last night I had a dream that Townfall will actually turn out to be a psuedo-remake of the first game, but played through the perspective of Alessa. It would be completely in first person and give you full access to Alessa's psychic powers. A bit stupid and over the top, perhaps, but it's not like I would say no to such a game if done well and respectfully.

Re: Wild speculation
I said SH2R was close, was bringing up the fact that it's got me excited for what's next. Had nothing to do with Townfalls date.
I really doubt it. I do think it's Silent Hill 1 adjacent like a lot of people, but No Codes known for their excellent original story telling and non traditional gameplay. Also I hate to be that guy but turning Alessa into a superhero with powers really just.... Well I can't see that working without being absolutely goofy as fuck. Mabe the Arcade or Pachinko department should pick that up. At least with that you know what your getting.Jonipoon wrote: ↑16 Jun 2024 Last night I had a dream that Townfall will actually turn out to be a psuedo-remake of the first game, but played through the perspective of Alessa. I'm almost willing to bet money that this is what Konami's ultimate goal is. They just dropped a free game as a announcement that Silent Hill is back(and probably to wash the taste of Ascension out of people mouths). You got a two remake this year. Probably Townfall and or f next year and 2026. After that I can for sure see them rotating between Remake/Side game/Main game. Especially with them starting up a new Silent Production Team. If these games do well and keeps doing well they are definitely gonna keep producing them.leftshoe18 wrote: ↑16 Jun 2024 Thinking about it more, we had Ascension kick off in October 2023. Alessa does exhibit supernatural powers in SILENT HILL, though — notably in the amusement park when Harry confronts her: she shoves him back 5 feet or so with an outstretched hand and then creates an invisible force field to prevent him from approaching any closer.
She was also able to kill people with her mind, which Dahlia took advantage of, against Alessa’s wishes.

Re: Wild speculation
Her abilities aren't my problem with the it. I feel making a game with Alessa going around launching cultists and Closers around really undermines her struggle, especially with Dahlias controlling nature. I'm not even sure Team Silent could pull that off, but hey what do I know. The Adversary wrote: ↑17 Jun 2024 > Alessa into a superhero with powers really just....<

Edit: Jonipoon : Upon reflection I probably am picturing it differently than you do in your head. I always imagine a game set 1700s/1800s Silent Hill with gameplay akin to RDR2 and I have a hard time describing it so I imagine we all have these little dream games that work in our heads but sound weird on paper.
