Silent Hill f rated in South Korea

Looks like it may be coming sooner than expected! It still took quite a while for The Short Message to get released after being rated in South Korea, but at least it's progress.

Re: Silent Hill f rated in South Korea
For reference: THE SHORT MESSAGE was rated in September 2022. It was released in January 2024. That's sixteen months.
Not to say SILENT HILL ƒ will be released in May, but we'll definitely hear more about it well before then.

Re: Silent Hill f rated in South Korea
Interesting.
It feels like an optimistic late 2025 release then...?
I Presumed it was greenlit in early 2022, announced late 2022, assumed release in late 2025, that's 3 years in dev. I was expecting 4 for release in 2026.
All the rumors started at the beginning of 2020. But we now know those were initially for Ascension and SH2 Remake.
By May of 2020 is when leaker DuskGolem started talking more about the Japanese side, that Kojima and Konami were rediscussing Silent Hills, but that it was unlikely to happen. Also that there was a 'demo' coming out, which we now know was The Short Message. Also rumors of Sony's Japan Studio and Toyama working on a licensed SH game came from Katharsis T.
By June-July 2020 news was that SH2 was in a playable state, be console exclusive to PS5, and that Konami was even starting early work on SH1 Remake.
By August 2020 DuskGolem said he knew for a fact that a Silent Hill game was being made in Japan that predated the Kojima/Konami talks that didn't work out. It seems that this was separate from the 'demo' and could be f. Konami was pitching external studios for 2 SH games as early as 2018, and development started in early 2019. The government lockdowns were delaying development and planned announcements. As well as the shut down of Sony's Japan Studio and Toyama's departure where 'Project 0' was speculated to be his SH game, but this was not f, and unlikely to be Slitterhead. A leaker of the Bluepoint Acquisition said it was likely cancelled.
Feb 2021 we got word of a SH trailer making the tounds at Sony for marketing approval, from as early as Dec 2020. By June 2021, Masahiro Ito let it be known he was working on something he hoped wouldn't be cancelled, and Bloober's involvement started coming up. Oct 2021, multiple SH projects were being rumored as a big revival. Kojima also brought up again, but that was likely OD. Del Toro clarified that their TGA teases were not a SH project. In Dec 2021, Toyama is interviewed about remaking SH1 and he believes it'd have to be conceptually reimagined.
May 2022, DuskG leaks Short Note stuff, including Ito artwork of the Sakura monster from 2020. Reiterates that some other SH project was scrapped in 2019, likely Toyama's. But at least 4 games are bein developed, said "3.5", likely referring to Short Message. Bloober rumors were being more solidified for SH2. Another new mainline game (f), a short anthology collection of projects (Anapurna beginning with Townfall). New 'P.T.' project Sakura (Short Message). A Taiwan mobile spin off was cancelled. Konami updates SH trademarks.
By June, Kojima's OD leaks. Christophe Gans confirms Konami has several games being made and they were inspired by the RE2 Remake.
In Sep 2022, Vixx and others confirmed the announcements were coming soon. Sony slides on SH2 by Bloober leak with 10 mil budget. Short Message rated by Korean board.
Oct 2022, another internal Konami SH project is mentioned. Transmission announced.
So basically... f could've been the Japanese project from back in 2020 alongside Short Message, which means it's posdibly been in the works for 5 years! So it's release could be sooner than I thought!
I guess we'll certainly see it on the next Transmission which could come out around March.
Sep. 2022 actually. And it was not mentioned in the first transmission. So it wouldn't release for over 1 year yet in Jan 2024 as a surprise shadow drop in the next transmission. But it was likely held back to release closer to Ascension Oct 2023 and SH2 Oct 2024.

Re: Silent Hill f rated in South Korea
I really have always assumed Townfall would come before f. It seemed like a smaller game compared to f and easier to finish first.

Not trying to bust your balls (I know you you meant 2024!) but it was actually first rated in September 2022, so we can feasibly still be 12+ months out!The Adversary wrote: ↑22 Jan 2025 For reference: THE SHORT MESSAGE was rated in September 2023. Re: Silent Hill f rated in South Korea
Fix'd.
However, looking back, I don't think I'm entirely mistaken to think that SILENT HILL ƒ is closer than we think.
SILENT HILL 2: REMAKE was rated in South Korea in early May 2024. The 13-minute gameplay trailer was released at the end of that month. Then the Angela trailer was out in June. And, finally, the game at the beginning of October, four months later.

Re: Silent Hill f rated in South Korea
The South Korean board was the first to notify us of the two Japanese developed games being rated - Short Message and f.
Short message received the Korean rating in Aug-Sep 2022, then Taiwan in Dec 2022, then Australia in Nov 2023.

Silent Hill 2 Remake was also first rated by the Korean board first on Mar 11th 2024, with the ESRB rating 20 days later on Mar 31st 2024.

I think SH2 is a better guide than Short Message, which was a free marketing release that was deliberately held back for timing purposes.
If other ratings start popping up, we'll know the release of f is close.
Safe to assume f will aim for an October release like Ascension and SH2.
I too am surprised that f could come out before Townfall, though going back over the rumor mill, f was likely in dev long before Anapurna and NoCode signed on.
I'd be highly surprised if Konami releases both in 2025. You could argue they did that with Ascension, Short Message and SH2 within a year's span from Oct 2023 - Oct 2024. But with Short Message more of an marketing outlier, the paid releases are a year apart.

I don't think the release of f is close at all, even if it is before Townfall.

Re: Silent Hill f rated in South Korea
If it's content complete (or close enough to get a rating), it's gotta be relatively close I would think. I'd love to see a late spring or early summer release so I don't have to worry about work or school. lol
Re: Silent Hill f rated in South Korea
Nothing at the State of Play.
It's funny that we are back to where we were a few years ago: waiting desperately for any new information and confirmation haha

Re: Silent Hill f rated in South Korea
But instead the most recent Silent Hill game being four months old instead of a decade.
