New Release Date Trailer - Oct 8th 2024 + Gameplay trailer

It's true: Bloober Team is remaking Silent Hill 2. Talk about it in here to keep Remake talk separate from the original!

I think for me, it's the rounder face that makes her look more child-like, or I'm just associating that with some chubbier young girls I used to know.

But this is also a 15-16 year old girl according to the stock photo description.

And this is a 10-year old... so there are all kinds.

Right. That girl also looks like a child. Angela does not.

Gives off enough of a child-like impression to me.

My point is, in contrast to original Angela, Remake Angela looks significantly younger.

Original Angela looked like she was in her 40s to me.

I'm wondering if there was an effort to de-age Angela - but not to better fit her official age of 19, but to make her a younger teenager.

We know the developers were toying with the age of James up until the Producer changed his mind. Age was never that important to the story other than Laura.

If I remember correctly... 19 was specifically chosen for Angela because that is of the age (18-19) when one has just graduated high school. This doesn't get talked about as much but Angela did run away from home after graduation. However, Thomas Orosco found her and dragged her back home.

I felt this was weird story-telling considering that 19 makes Angela legally an adult. There would be legal ramifications for dragging someone back home even if she was your own child. In that sense, a younger teenager (16-17) fits better for an abuse victim to run away from home, but couldn't do anything to stop from being dragged back home. Thomas Orosco would still be her legal guardian.

Child Protective Services is a thing, of course, but I think that still requires someone to have reported something. We know from the blood-soaked article that Mr. Orosco had a history of drunkenness and violence. I believe the Japanese subtitle also mentions narcotics abuse. There was no mention of sexual abuse.

That said, the Remake Laura has a rounder face than the original as well. Laura may not have been abused like Angela was, but I do think her being an orphan and all made her more mature. No-one really talks about this, though.

Laura's not so mature that she's above calling someone a fartface.

Dude I'm totally not seeing your point. The girl looks like a child, Angela looks like her age in the remake. Like it's not even close to me. Even in that one shot that makes her face seem rounded she still looks like a young adult.

Also you should probably not be googling those pics my friend don't want Chris Hansen showing up asking you to take a seat. 😂

If you also take her body and height into account, sure, but to me her face alone feels like a much younger girl who is still to grow and push out her chubbiness. Certainly there are older women who look younger, but she's definitely younger looking in comparison to the original Angela, both her CG and PS2 in-game model where her jawline is much sharper and angular, and her lips are larger, and neck is skinnier, and the eyebrows are thin and more elegantly curved in comparison to the thick straight bushy one that call attention to themselves. The new VA also adds to that feeling. And dress wise, the original's sweather has a collapsed, baggier collar, more fitting for an older woman's style, versus the pulled up turtleneck.

I'd even say original Angela looks older than 19.

That her father still controlled her despite her being a legal adult is not unusual. She was likely dependent on him, because he made her feel so, and likely never reached out to any other men she had contact with, much less the authorities, out of fear/shame. He probably put her off any friends too, so she had no one else to depend on.

She looks a little younger than SH1 Angela. I see 19 year old girls that look like game Angela all the time, a lot of times people don't loose their baby face until their mid 20s or older. I didn't loose mine till about 26.

Can't believe I have to say this, but don't post images of girls in their swimwear. Actually, stop posting images of girls full stop. Link to modest, appropriate, off-board images if you must, but if there's any more 10yos in bikinis, I will get the ban hammer out. It's not appropriate here.

This obsession with Angela's face is giving me hives. jfc.

Hey how bout that Lakeside diner that look cool. I wonder how much optional content is being added. Always felt like a missed opportunity that the games didn't do much to evolve the exploration of the town.

I would love a similar amount of optional content as Downpour. Maybe we could get some more permanent rewards than Downpour offered though.

One wish from me is no cutesy "easter eggs," please. I don't need to see another "Demon Sameal" picture. :(

Heh, yeah, that's why they call it 'baby face' as the roundness is associated with youth. And some girls, tragically young ones, even in their 20's, are nowadays getting cosmetic surgery to shave it off and emphasize their cheekbones and jawline for that 'maturer' look.

But of course, people aren't defined by just a face. Height, body size, mannerisms, voice, clothing etc. the whole package together gives you a fuller picture of how old and who someone is.

I guess I just wanted to figure out what specifically was bugging me about new Angela. We're stuck with what all Konami has given us for now until the next transmission where we'll finally get more new things to complain about...

Your probably just hung on her looking different because she's looked one way for 23 years. Angela is something I always thought could've been improved on in SH2. I never really liked Donna Burkes portrayal of the character. She sounds like she's trying REALLY hard to be this damaged human being in a game with mostly decent subdued performances. I think it sticks out. So far I really like this new interpretation of her. Though I understand why people hang on to the original too.

I always felt like he was holding onto clothes he got from his parents which made me feel quite sorry for him. Like his maturity to some extent was stunted and that is reflected in his outfit. I understand people dislike Eddie but I really do feel he needs a hug. Everyone is someone’s child and I think it’s an important thing to remember.

Am I the only person who doesn't think Eddie's outfit looks immature? I've seen countless people wearing similar outfits throughout my life. There's nothing "childish" about a polo and shorts.

It's not the outfit itself but the way he wears it. It's ill fitting and sort of sloppy like a child.

Yes exactly this. They look like clothes he has grown out of and contradict his age.
