Pyramid Head Revealed
Variety reported Pyramid Head's appearance in the upcoming Return to Silent Hill film.
Read about it here.
At first glance, I thought it was a close-up of a new figurine. Obviously it's a different design entirely, it just looks plastic. I like that its head is a return to the original trapezoidal pyramid shape, as opposed to the sharp peak of the films' version (and, consequently, the Bogeyman of HOMECOMING), though, as MrMeow mentioned, it'd be nice to not have a super-juiced version of Pyramid Head. It's supposed to be sort of weak-looking and burdened by its own head, not superhero ripped.
These also are clearly the bars Pyramid Head is first seen behind in Wood Side Apartments from the original SILENT HILL 2. (They also look like crab legs.) It'll be interesting to see how the apartments are tackled in the film. I'd guess this would also suggest Eddie will be introduced here as in the game.

Also worth noting is according to Variety a tough cut already had been screened, and the finished version is debuting at Cannes.
"Oh yeah, I've been here before
I can see it with eyes closed
Shadows that look like blood
Dead as far as the mind goes
Fear that comes from my head
Lives in the mirror"

Photo looks cool! Obviously, the rubber suit and costume textures are obvious, as I believe this is a set photo, and those are not representative of the final on-screen product with proper lighting and post.
Optimistically, given a rough cut has already been screened, assuming no drastic reshooting, a final cut could be 2 months out, with full VFX/sound etc. being 4-5 months. If the scheduling is on the ball, the film could release late this year, coinciding with the game, and that's likely why we haven't got a release date yet. Konami undoubtedly wants to co-market them.
If we get both Return to Silent Hill and Robert Egger's Nosferatu this winter, I'm going to be very happy!

I may be nitpicking here, but is that a saw blade on the Great Knife...?

I think it's just supposed to be a serrated knife rather than a clean blade.Burning Man wrote: ↑17 May 2024 I may be nitpicking here, but is that a saw blade on the Great Knife...?

Neat design. Looks to be somewhere between the movie design and the original game design.

Re: Pyramid Head Revealed
OK so... (And follow me on this one lol)
We have the original Red pyramid thing in SH2 (aka pyramid head)
Then we have the movie PH based on SH2 PH
Then we have Homecoming "boogeyman" which is based off the movie based on SH2..
Now we have this PH obviously based on homecomings Boogeyman (the great knife is the same as homecomings and its still has the slender middle) based on the movie PH based on the original.... ....
Why not just use the original model from SH2? You know the one the movie is based off of????
PH IS NOT SCARY ANYMORE, and the one time he would actually fit into the story he has already been done to death by other movies and games that didn't need him!
I have no hope for this movie. Will I still see it? HELL YEH!!! in theaters day 1 Woooo!!!!! Lolol

Re: Pyramid Head Revealed
Well, the main reasons why we get iterative designs in Hollywood film adaptations is usually one or a combination of reasons:
Giving your concept artists something to do simply because you are paying them.
If it's "new" or reimagined you technically don't owe the original creators anything.
Design Infringement issues.
New merchandising opportunities.
Nobody can criticize you for being lazy by copy/pasting.
Some designs don't translate well to different mediums.
You think you are genuinely improving it.
Your script is different thematically from the source you are adapting, so designs change to reflect that.
Simply for differentiation's sake.
Personally, I'd love to learn more about the soundtrack.

Maybe Korn will be the ones doing it.

Re: Pyramid Head Revealed
Technically it's only credited to Jonathan Davis of KoЯn, not actually KoЯn the band.
Still, I bet the soundtrack will be similar to the first film's in that it uses primarily music from the games, though this one will include the new renditions from SILENT HILL 2: REMAKE — the grander, operatic versions as heard in the combat trailer. As I recall, some of the songs used in the first film were also slightly edited, so I'd expect more of the same, but focusing more on SILENT HILL 2's soundtrack as a tie-in.

Re: Pyramid Head Revealed
I don't think anyone expected this film to have a large budget. It looks acceptable for what it is.
