The Sphere in the Final Boss' Chamber

Post by AlessaChevalier »

Tonight I was playing a run through of Silent Hill 1 and I decided to fight Split Head with a pistol (just for the fun of it) and after the ride down the elevator the flames light up the room and the first thing I took notice of (besides the huge-ass lizard) was the sphere underneath the flaming corpse over the seal of metatron with the circling spikes around them (which I think is the same room you fight the final boss in). It was the exact same sphere (although smaller in SH1) that was in the pool of blood in the final boss' chamber in Silent Hill 4. I never heard anyone say anything about the sphere in SH4 but this new discovery makes me realize it might have something to do with the rituals to give birth to or descend God.

This is the first time anyone has heard of this, right?

Nope.

The device, by the way, is called an armillary sphere.

I think you can even spot one in the first Silent Hill, they are used quite often because of their look.

Alright, all the other topics I can find that mention the sphere do so in a sideways manner referencing possible influences (the above link points to a thread discussing the sphere as an Event Horizon reference). I'd like to declare this the Official Spinning Metal Doom Ball thread for the SH4 forum and just link the others here.

Armillary Sphere: 13 Ghosts Reference

Armillary Sphere: Event Horizon Reference

Armillary Sphere: Link between SH1 & SH4 (from General Discussion forum)
