Haunted Wheelchairs

Post by WelcomeToNowhere »

What's your take on the odd haunted wheelchairs in the Hospital World and the Building World? Nowhere in the Memos or Book of Lost Memories is a paraplegic or otherwise crippled Victim mentioned, so...
And could it be a ghost/victim? Or just some unkillable monster?
Thoughts?

Someone mentioned in the past that the wheelchairs were presences of Alessa's power in Walter's world. Personally I didn't buy that, but I couldn't come up with other explanation myself.

I figured they may have had something to do with Walter's medical history, but I couldn't figure out how.
Dark chocolate for me as well. :D

I kinda thought that one of the Victims might have been confined to a wheelchair when s/he was killed, but it doesn't fit the facts...

Or it's possibly Henry or Eileen reacting to their injuries, y'know, or some sort of psychic projection like when Walter screws with Eileen's head and makes her hit herself.

Hmm... not a lot of information to go on, is there? :?

I didn't say it was perfect, but it's more than you've come up with!
And yes, that IS what I mean. :?

Overanalyzation mode: ON

Wheelchairs = helplessness

When Wally was a child, he couldn't do anything to find his mother and found himself trapped and controlled—along with the other orphans at Wish House—by fear and abuse. Now Walter has power of his own and is free to act as he pleases. The wheelchair is empty, but the memory of his helplessness remains.

Overanalyzation mode: OFF

I like chocolate with nuts. Almond praline ftw.

^At least that's better than what most people come up with.

But to be fair, any wheel chair in a SH game is GOING to invite speculation about Alessa. It's unavoidable.

Yes, yes, fancy explanation, but other things of Walter's psyche became monsters, not ghosts. I mean, his misogyny towards women was reflected in those weird Patient-things, his inner sadist showed through with the annoying cougar-dogs, and his needy, damaging helplessness by the Leeches on the Pool Table in the Building World & Water Prison. Why would his helplessness ALSO manifest as an unkillable wheelchair?

Wheelchairs are inanimate so... killing them is impossible anyway. Wheelchair in the spooky Otherworld of SH, makes it super invincible. Also, in one of the rooms, you can see a wheelchair parked next to a light and on the floor, you can observe the shadow of a rough humanoid shape getting out of and sitting back into the wheelchair. GHOSTS INDEED!

AND FYI... there needs to be a FUCK YEAH CHOCOLATE option. But since I have to chose, Dark Chocolate indeed!

I think they just wanted to do something new with the same old wheelchairs. I thought they were kinda cool, tho like everything else in SH4, kinda annoying.

Also, I picked milk chocolate, though I don't really understand...

I think the wheelchairs were pointless and an indication that "Team Silent" was running out of ideas...as is how I felt with much of the enemy design in SH4.

By the way, the chocolate question is COMPLETELY irrelevant; I just felt like asking for some reason

I always thought it was a ghost because of that shadow you see in one of the rooms but maybe the haunted wheelchairs were meant to make Henry feel like a crippled person in Walter's world?
And when Eileen is with you, the wheelchairs are gone, I mean she is injured and has a bad arm, can she be compared with a crippled person?
Maybe the wheelchairs have a connection to her. I don't know, I guess this doesn't make any sense, sorry... :(

The darker the cherry the sweeter tha juice,..yep once you go black you never...oh, we're actually talking about "candy" chocolate!!.. ...my bad....my choice...milk chocolate...;)

As far as the wheelchairs goes, i'm not sure...anytime you see wheelchairs somebody is always going to reference alessa, but i don't think that applies here, because i don't think Walter was really held in any hospital outside of the Wish House....so i'm stunned on this one....at the very least it might represent the victims, but even that doesn't work because he killed all of his victims.

How were the dogs connected with his sadistic tendencies? :? Can't really say I gave them much thought...

I think The Adversary theorised that Walter may have been taken to the same hospital as Eileen when he was an abandoned new born. Though he would've been way too young to remember. ;)

I think the wheel chairs might just represent helplessness. Oh, and dark chocolate. :D
