In case you didn't know the Silent Hill 1 speedrun that you're downloading (35 minutes and 29 seconds) is mine (though my best time is 34:55 and I could improve it further...I just haven't gotten around to it). The Sh2 maria's quest video on that site is also mine (done on hard mode in a time of 6 minutes and 32 seconds) and the Resident Evil 1 Jill's game 1 hr 9 min and 17 sec knife only video on that site is mine as well.

I plan on adding SH2 to my list of runs eventually.

I'd say you just have to avoid monsters, know which exact locations to go, and forget the other -extra- rooms with health drinks and such, and have the puzzles figured out beforehand.

You don't have to believe me, you can think whatever you wish. But I know that it's true, and that's all that counts.

Just watched the SH1 run, and it's actually an hour long  I guess with all the load times etc the game counter only reached 35mins.

And can you even get 10 stars if the game's set on easy and it takes you over 6hrs?

Nope. That's one of the many reasons why it's not true.

None of the Silent Hill games count loading times towards final time; cutscenes don't count either (though their skipped through anyways).

1 hour

dang it adversary

Probably about 3 hours-ish. I don't like to rush a game like this as there are no benefits to doing so.

When you play your very first game, you tend to take longer looking for items-
6 hrs on my first try for SH1,(I got stuck and literally would run around in circles, I didn't know it would count against me), 3 hrs on SH2, 3 on SH2, 3 or 4 on SH4

I remember replying to a similar thread before the forum was hacked.
I also remember getting royally flamed because a couple of people didn't believe my claim.

EDIT: I've deleted the rest of this, thus rendering the Adversary's reply below confusingly irrelevant.

Hmmm, never pay attention to it, nor do I like speedruns, but I do remember I beat SH2 on hard in 1hr and 15 min, give or take.

The only time I even attempted a half-assed speed run (I was just basically showing my friends the game), I got an hour and 15 on normal. I prefer to really take my time every time I play. I love this game too much to rush.

I win for the longest time.

My SH2 time is over 24 hours; I left it on overnight once (forgetting to pause it), and I'm a slow player anyway.
