Who created the Otherworld in Silent Hill 2?

Post by redrum »

Alessa created 1, and Claudia created 3, Walter created 4, but who created the one in SH2?
(sorry if this has already been asked or is blindingly obvious, I did use the search thhing, but nothing came up, I would just like to know)

The Otherworld of number 2 was created by James, Angela, Eddie, Laura, and Ernest Baldwin. The Otherworld over the town of Silent Hill is basically a meeting point of several people's minds, except in 1 and 3 we only see Alessa's/Heather's version, whereas in 2 we see several other people's.

Alessa was technically dead in SH1. That didn't stop her influence in the Otherworld.

But, to clarify something, no one "creates" the Otherworld, it's there already. They just have influence on how it appears and such. Like painting on a blank canvas.

Alessa was perfectly alive. She was just so horribly burned that she was better off being dead. "What's keeping that child alive?" Etcetera etcetera.

That's debateable, though I happen to agree.

>Cause she is dead
So was Walter. Even after Claudia's death, the appearance of the [otherside] remained, which she had some influence on.

Sorry, I didn't phrase that correctly at all. What I meant was that she wasn't walking around actively seeking to "create" the otherworld.

I think Alessa created it, if not maybe the deity the cult wanted to bring about. In both cases though, it would already have been there. As to when it turns is what I wonder and what actually causes the turn itself.

Well, duh. That applies to every character except Walter and maybe Claudia.

In my opinion, SH2 was created by the darkness held in James' mind and heart.

it depends for james it was his guilt and remorse
if he didnt really care for what he did, silent hill couldnt bring him to his wrongdoing,
but because he is dilligently trying to find his wife, thus means he cares deeply
other words if he didnt give a shit, he wouldnt have been drawn into such a devious situation

key words
guilt, repression, and regret.
andrashi and cactus are right because the game shows us this.

You're not all that wrong, really. What lies inside James' mind has a tremendous influence on the Otherworld in SH2.

the other world has two parts. one is the pysche of the person, and the other is the whole cult thing

Even the cult thing is just the psyche of a person, but just the psyches of the cultists. The Cult has no more influence on the Otherworld than anyone else. Their religious beliefs, in mass numbers, just gives them more leeway, like a majority of one party having a voting advantage in politics.

One version votes "Personal demons!" 20 cult members vote "THE GOD!" etc.
