Upside down town map
I'm not sure what this means exactly, but I found it to be very interesting.
There's a deleted scene of Rose and Cybil breaking into a building and stealing a map to the town to aid them in finding the Grand Hotel, and the map from that scene is in Rose's hand when she and Cybil meet Anna.
Here's a site with a still from the deleted scene:

The prop was sold on Premiere Props after the release of the film.
Here's what the prop map looks like:
And here's what the map looks like upside down:
I guess it really goes to show that the cultists had a major strangehold on the town. It's amazing the amount of detail they put into even the small things.

Holy cow. That's some awesome detail there!
I wonder if they could've took the money used to create that map that no one even really gets to see or cares about and maybe put a little more effort into paying someone to point out obviously dumb lines in the movie. ((OHHHH BURRRRNN))

Well, hooray Alex420! You've discovered a gem. It's actually quite nice for us SH film fanatics, as I know I relish every exposed detail.

*shrugs* No problem, guys.
You can speculate and theorize as much as you want on it.

Man that is so cool.
Where we're from, the birds sing a pretty song, and there's always music in the air.

Awesome...and the church is smack in the center of the cross. I wish they hadn't deleted this scene. Wonder if it is on purpose that they used a Christian cross for the map and only upside down can you really see the right side up "symbol of faith".
Nice find!

Re: Upside down town map
It was probably intentional, but more because of the common Hollywood trope of using an upside-down cross the represent evil (in reality, the symbol is actually pretty commonly used to represent Christian martyrdom, but not so much in horror films).
